I am a do it myself person, unless it’s something I don’t have the tools for.

Is this oil finish (like a cirrus etc) OR heavy poly (like a TL5)?

Referring to a heavy poly TL-5, not that I’m gonna strip mine.

OUCH !!! Tough choice actually. That bass has "character" up the wazoo now. She's very road worn. The parts they added are VERY GOOD !!! I'd say for someone who wants to enter the TL-5 world but can't afford 6 bills, then this is a no brainer. Go for it.

Agree. If the neck is good, who cares.

I have had the best success stripping poly using a heat gun and a scrapper. Just be careful to not gouge or burn the wood.

When ya less than an hour from the fire zone you prepare as best you can with your most treasured items just in case the authorities demand you leave for your own protection because the bushfires are so close. I had all my music gear ready to load out my back door into my wagon, plus clothing and photos all-ready loaded. Luckily the South Australian fire-ground of the last few weeks didn't come any closer to my home. All is well.

I can't imagine what you're going through down under with the fires. I'm here in Sonoma County, USA where we had the fires, too. Only 20 minutes from me. I know people who lost everything.
I hope you and your friends are OK. I'm puzzled why the media hasn't talked about it more.

Thanks for the best wishes mb. Yep half of the East coast of Australia is on fire. Luckily I live in South Australia so i'm a southern boy lol and missed most of the worst of it but it was touch and go for awhile...I know Cali and The Amazon went through similar fires the past few years and apparently these Aussie fires are bigger than the Amazon fires from news reports.
Anyway..The Peavey is a 1991 Active Dyna Bass 5 string I ordered back early '91..waited months for it to be completed and shipped to Australia. I call her Lucy and she's the best sounding most flexible bass i've ever owned and Ive got a 4003 Ric and EBMMSR5 too but this Peavey is my fav. The white logos are made by me from stick-on adhesive contact shelf/drawer/book covering..I didnt think they would last nearly 30 years on the pups and TRC but there ya go..took me an eternity to trace out and cut out with a sharp razor blade loll a good advert for White Contact loll

Yes kodiak I remember that you have rellies and friends on the east coast states..I hope they are all safe and well as its been a terrible tragedy with so many lives lost, animals killed (half a billion at last count) and properties destroyed.

Think it peaked at 55 or 57. Hard to keep track. Few month back I opened a case to find a Koa Dyna/Unity ,forgot I owned one

This will be the last year they'll be together, always fancied living on the water. Won't have room for them on a narrow boat and the sale will help fund the boat. Already sold one of the DE Scorpios.

Heck of a collection..always was impressed with your pics..I dont think wide angle lens got them all in loll Best of luck with your move but pity about the collection..a koa Dyna you forgot about lolll..pour me another Guinness bartender..I always wanted a TL5 but alas these days I have 10 basses in my collection, a new wife with a waggling finger and keeps a critical eye on how many I have and i'm getting too old to gig these days..run outta energy back in the 60's lolll..besides with all the darn amps and stuff I havent got room for more basses anyway..that darn Peavey 1820 cab takes up a hell of a lot of room and its too heavy to shift around all the time..they made their cabs to last like everything else. All the best with your move to a water-based home...sounds great.

Had a pair of DTH-4 cabs. 4ft high, 2 1/2ft deep but only 18" wide.
Weighed 158lbs each !! What the hell was I doing with those in the house, I live on the 3rd floor

Wooo that IS heavy...I thought the 1820 cab at 122lbs was heavy enough..I actually had a disc removed in 2003 and I bet that darn cab contributed to it lol..reminds me..the drummer at the time always helped me with it..time to check his health too..hes now in Oregon US..bet his back isnt fairing any better lol

I wish. Lugged them up 1 stair at a time. Never found anybody brave enough to buy them

1st generation were a more refined T-20. 2nd and 3rd gen were straight P-bass copy with a jazz neck. Parts used got cheaper and cheaper as time wore on.

The wood on the 2nd and 3rd arent alder or ash correct? My 2nd gen Fury with a Duncan SPB1 vintage P pickup sounds close to a Fender P but its still different sounding.....split neck, different body wood...mine wears broken in Fender 9050 flats.
