I've played one at a local TB'er house here in Colorado about two years ago. The GV's have a basswood body, correct? The Genesis have a graphite spine embedded in wood and have the ergo's of a Jazz bass with a thin neck. My guess is that the previous owner didn't really get in the ballpark and decided to part with it.

Peavey's, like G&L's, are their own thing. I suspect that Hartley didn't want to play second fiddle to anything or anyone. His designs strike me as economical improvements or amalgamations of the best technology available...at the time.

Well what I was getting at is loading it with the same electronics package and hoping to get a similar sound. With the Barts in this thing it is very piano like and clear. It's growing on me every time I play it. Nothing like my other basses.

There's a reason why Barts have been used by a majority of high end bass builders, for decades. I'm a fan, in certain types of basses.

Got a set of Bart 9J1 in my 72 J with a J Retro. They are killer sounding pickups, both active and passive.

Thanks to Songwriter for working with me on Millennium 5 and letting me be the caretaker for now. I've had a few misses in recent times and this will help me rebound a bit.

I'll have some non-Peavey stuff posted for sale in the near future to make space. Folks can feel free to PM me for details before things hit the market.

Edit: Actually, I might post my seafoam green Patriot for sale...

The blue Axcelerator 4 string arrived today , thin flat easy to play neck , great build quality , plays and feels amazing , haven't plugged it in yet , but really punches & projects sound even unplugged !

The G-Vs have alder bodies.

He has TWO Peavey Midi Basses for sale. The Green one has an issue on the 10th fret A string, and the white one has an issue on the 13th fret G string, according to his ads. I say this in case you're impulsive like I am and get so excited you click to buy before reading the entire description.

Peavey made the COOLEST basses and was always ahead of the curve. There will NEVER be the good ole' days of Peavey USA quality and prices again.

I've read that the late Mike Powers was the genius behind a lot of Peaveys best innovations that we bass players covet.
