Do strings for my t-45 need to be super-long scale? I tried the long scale chromes I have on another base and the silk was sitting in the nut. Can I just pull the silk back? Apparently they don't make super-long chromes in 50-105 :( Any other flats that will fit and don't cost a fortune?

EDIT: I thought I would post this here rather than in strings due to the bass-specific knowledge here.

If the T-45 strings thru the same as the T-40, standard length D'addarios might not fit.

I had got a set of standard half rounds to first string up my T-40, and the E string tapered before the nut when the saddle was intonated properly. I had to move the saddle about 1/2" towards the neck before the taper was behind the nut, until I got a set of super longs so I could intonate my E string.

They were not chromes but they WERE D'addarios so you might want to check first.

Someone kindly popped me a PM with a heads up --- I'll be receiving a violin finish MillPlus 5.. looking forward to being able to do side by sides between a BQuad5/Cirrus/TL/Millenium

Hopefully this helps someone -- last thing I needed was another bass --- too good a deal (and too cool a seller) to pass up.

Why not just have a jazz pickup installed in your Fury? Part of the beauty of Peaveys is that they have so little collector value that you can modify them however you want.

Nick don't..

It's a totally different bass.

They USED to not have value.. not sure you've noticed -- the USA Peavey stuff is what's skyrocketing right now... they've just about doubled in value over the last year -- can't say this about my Fenders or Botiques.

The J installed basses are of an entirely different caliber.

Fury basses are better than any of my PBasses.. but not better than a Unity series.

There's also an early Forum on Ebay. PJ and the same body shape as your Fury.(Some of these are active and some are not, but you can only tell by pulling the pickguard)

Tim, I would have no qualms with modifying a Fury. They are still plentiful and inexpensive. Of course, I said the same thing about my 76 Maple neck P back in 86. Oh well. And I do agree that a Unity is a nicer bass. I have a CAR 92 passive Unity. Wonderful neck-through bass, and one of my better bargains at $150.

The point about not modifying is a personal opinion

After you add up the Fury + pickups + mods.. it still wouldnt' be as good (at the same price)...you could just go out and plunk down $300 and end up a Unity. I've paid up to $500 for a unity (and yes worth it for the right one)

We are kind of at the golden time period for buying this stuff (just trust me on this one)

Reminds me of putting a Kahler in a '72 Tele Deluxe.. probably not my most brilliant move.

I had a 74 Tele Deluxe. Sold it, when it became clear I would never be a guitar player, for whopping sum of $250. Then again, who wants a tele with a strat headstock?:hmm:

Hey guys, since the thread is pretty slow i figured id ask a quick question. I sold all of my basses and extra gear and all i have left is my G-V (which i wil not sell) and i was thinking about picking up a second bass as a backup (you never know what can happen). Anyway, ive been looking around and the Dyna caught my eye. Im not all that familiar with them so if someone could fill me in that would be great. Thanks
