U.S. Peavey Club

Those of you who are my facebook friends saw this earlier today. This is the last of the pile of goodies I got from the various warehouse sales at Peavey. The UPS guy dropped the two boxes off. I haven't opened them yet. Contained therein:

TL-Six husk, I was told it should be able to be built out. I actually got it as a possible body for one of the BQ necks.

Two BQ-5 necks, unfinished

G-bass neck, REALLY unfinished

Millenium 5 neck, bxp

John Taylor (I think) signature P-type body and neck.

Two BQ-4 bodies.

RSB body template

I think that's it in this one. I'll post detailed pics as I go thru the goodies.

That's awesome!
I emailed Derrick about a Cirrus husk forever ago and never heard back.

Derrick is a seemingly busy guy and I had to bug him continuously. He answered my FB PM's right away though. Too bad he doesn't live in MS anymore. He's with his new girlfriend and soon baby in Iowa.
Home of Captain Kirk :)

So are you guys wondering if the Milli 5 w/o the photo on GC Used is a USA or BXP ? There's always that chance... :) Most likely it's a BXP, but it's fun to pretend. :)

LOL! I'm not the only one who sees that and wonders? Usually they put BXP on it, since it's on the headstock, so when I don't see that, my ears perk up!

I recently bought a Cirrus from GC used for $800, and it turned out to be a BXP. Fortunately they took it back because it was "not as described". I happened to look again a few days ago, and it was back up - no BXP tag in sight. Luckily I found a US model on Reverb for about the same price less than a week later! But yeah, there's no telling. I even told the manager about another mislabeled one online and he didn't do anything about it. Kinda shady.

I ALWAYS do that !!! It's fun !! Check beat us to it, though ; He called immediately and asked ! It's a BXP.

Check's returned 6 string Cirrus is back up. I had bought (and returned before it shipped !) a Foundation 1983 that had been returned THREE times ! I didn't know that until Chuck said he had it and returned it due to several neck issues.

GC knows someone will buy it and eventually it will stop getting returned because A) Eventuntually some poor kid will not know it's a POS and keep it, and B) Someone will use it for parts.

I wish TB had a sad or disappointed face emoji like FB does to instead of typing we can just "sad" it.

I bought a Cirrus 5 from GC a while back for $783 delivered. It is a Bubinga top and had quite a few dents and dings that I was able to steam out or fill and now it looks almost new and is one of the best playing/ sounding basses I have owned.

Sometimes you can score a great deal. Other times you get something not as described but the return policy makes it easy to get your money back if you have a GC close to your home.

Just to clarify, I like my local GC. The Repair tech is really good and a lot of nice people work there. I’ve gotten a lot of good gear from their used site. If I want a no-hassle instrument selling experience, I can always go to GC. This was just a frustrating experience because I told the manager about the issue, and then it was reposted without any changes being made.

They do this all over the country as standard operating procedure.
You can return any bass and tell them any (true) horror story about the bass and they will re-list it and re-sell it until somebody keeps it.
I've been through this a dozen times with them.
They_ just_ do_ not_ care.

This has not been my experience.

Just like Home Depot, some stores have a stunning personality.

If you were able to return it, that's fair enough isn't it?

I prefer MusicGoRound, due to their franchise model, they do not have the same options as a national chain.
I've had very good luck with MusicGoRound...just factor in you will have to pay some shipping. I always call and talk to someone and ask detailed questions about the item. I know there is some difference store to store in service level but generally very responsive and helpful.

I guess it’s there way of getting back some $$ loss due to people that use GC, Reverb, and others for gear “borrowing”. I have no respect for people who buy, play, and enjoy gear, then decide they want their money back and abuse the return policy, or Reverb’s buyer protection policies, to get it.

Not saying that’s what you all have done. But, some TBers openly admit or brag about it.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that and personally wouldn't do that just to try something. But at the same time, if the seller leaves themselves open to that then someone is always going to abuse it.

What's that bass in your avatar Jedi? I just noticed it....duh
