I meant the TL
It looked like this one, nearly identical....View attachment 4011114 I love my mod job TL5! But, I also love SFs, VFLs, Barts (quality ones), EMGs.... all good pickups. I guess I’m not picky. I had to bring my blue girl back from the sick state I found her in with MK-1s and the matching import Bart pre that was dead. Plus, I’m more likely to keep a bass once I’ve nursed it and mod’d it.
So midway through the 2nd set last night, we play long sets by the way-1st one was over an hour and a half, the preamp on my millenium cut out. Went through the signal chain and was definitely the bass, specifically seemed to be related to the mid pot stack. I have a feeling that somehow sweat may have gotten in the pot and caused the problem. It was hot as hell in there last night and we were all drenched.
No sound but when I worked the boost and cut knob it just made a bunch of noise like a bad input jack sound. I haven't investigated yet this morning but I was going to try some tuner cleaner or maybe just give it time to maybe dry, assuming thats the problem, and see what happens.
Any thoughts?
I would first try Deoxit5. Batteries would be next on my check list. Please let us know what you find.
Glad you are enjoying it, that big pickup does sound great.Told you I'm loving that G Bass 58kites. It was killing it last night through my old GK 400RB and 212. I can get it grindy and aggressive and mellowed out and punchy by quickly tweaking the eq.
Thanks Again.
Wooo..great story. Glad the bass came out of it ok too..sounded a worse situation than a Blues Brothers moment lolThe place I played at is a small beachside bar. It's been there forever and is the most awesome dive bar around. Tiny little stage, so small that our guitarist is on the dance floor in front of the stage, I was down there with him the first couple shows and you are literally in the crowd with people dancing. Really a fun experience tbh, but you get the idea, it's tight quarters.
Last night about 4 songs to go a women falls back into us, not an uncommon thing there, tight space and drunk people having a good time. Anyway, this time she fell back into my mic stand that sent it slinging back at me. Somehow she managed to pull on a cable that knocked a fluorescent sign crashing down on me the guitarist was knocked back into my guitar stand and I look up to see the mains falling back into me while I'm holding my stand a sign and keeping my G Bass from getting smashed into. At that moment the singer jumps over and grabs the mains and stands it back up in time to end the domino crash. The only casualty was my mic stand which was bent up at base. No big deal as I have three or four more of the things.
All good, just another night at the Key West Bar. Just a bit of humorous drama when all was said and done. I was just amazed that my bass didn't get hit with everything flying around.
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'...Keep That Crowd A-Movin'Me too , TinIndian ! I could picture the whole even the way you clearly described it.
Haha, Giffro - If the crowd got too out of control I guess they'd need to break out "RAWHIDE".
2nd on the DeOxit D5. The pot may or may not have an access hole, but if it does it will be up against the PWB. I dont have another photo handy. Also, a little D5 goes a long way. Dont hose it down.So midway through the 2nd set last night, we play long sets by the way-1st one was over an hour and a half, the preamp on my millenium cut out.
