Yes these are decent, very similar to the Gen3 Fury and off the same tooling just done overseas after they stopped production in the US. That's why the same body and headstock shape. Parts can be swapped with the Gen3 US Fury.

Gen3 Fury, yes! How many generations are there? I have a Gen1(?) slant pickup Fury...

Well it could be said to be infinite...lol. Each year has some uniqueness but the general guideline is....
Gen 1 - slant SF pup 1984/85
Gen 2 - Split P but same body shape 1986/1990 (roughly)
Gen 3 - Split P but with streamlined body 1991/94 (roughly)
There are various versions of hardware and neck construction that are within those but that is the general divide. After Gen 2 the basses have some offshoring and cheapening of components but still assembled in the US.

What difference do the brass saddles make tone-wise? I have a mahogany Patriot that sounds great but lacks a little in the fundamental department. It's strung with GHS Pressurewounds; the only change I've made is copper-shielding the cavity.
For that price, in that condition, black hardware and a matching headstock...with a case....Score!

Yeah, I blew them up pretty good on this 32" monitor...I couldn't see any blemishes at all, but we'll see when it gets here! Even if there are some rough spots, thats still a hell of a deal, IMO. I have been very lucky with last 5 Peavey's I've bought online

Look for the country of origin. You want Indonesian.
The hardware is more "stamped" than "machined"
All of that said...for the money they're a great gig bass. I put tapes on mine and played it in a 60s bubblegum band. I'd put that up against my USA fender(s) any day.
When people go through my demo kit... they perceive a 50s pbass (on the gear list) and actually hear an import peavey.... the 50s pbass is a lumber pile with strings...
My first bass was a used Fender Precision bought used in 1958. It was a lousy bass and I have always wondered why folks think so much of them. It was a ground breaking design but it didn't take long for better basses to be built. The later Fender P basses are much better.

I haven't played a Peavey Patriot in 30 years or more. When I was a youngster I owned several Foundations, a Dyna, and eventually a Palaedium in the early 90's...thats when I got my first Spector NS2A, and I played Spectors primarily for the last 20 yrs. Now, I have the Peavey Fever since buying my first Cirrus and Millennium earlier this year....this Patriot will be Peavey #6 since January
