So my friend was the one bidding on that T40 earlier , he won and paid a whooping 239$ shipped, i guess he wants some other bass now tho.
He offered me the t40 at the price he paid should i bite? to be honest I will probably just use it for trade bait but i dont know what trade value it would bring.

I agree. Quite honestly, I want to know how they can be improved. I think its the single greatest bass behind a Roscoe LG, maybe.
Thats an epic deal, half price what it would normally go for maybe even less, plus the case. Someone should jump on that.

Seems like a good deal, but pick guards for a Patriot are more like $35 to $40 rather than the $10 that the seller stated. A break or crack by the jack is common. The hard case being included makes it a good deal.
I don't see anything wrong with the pickguard... It's old... That's all. Vintagey.
If you look to the left of the jack there is a piece missing from the pickguard as the seller stated. Inserting and removing a lead stresses the pickguard and it eventually breaks and needs to be repaired or replaced. If the pickguard isn't cracked or broken on a Patriot then it likely wasn't played a whole lot. Most of the ones that have been played for 20 years seem to have broken pickguards. Can't tell from the picture if there is enough material left on that one to hold the jack securely. If you go look at it, be sure to check it with a lead.
To each their own, but 140 seems on the high side for any Patriot. For one with a broken guard it's def high.
Remember, a Patriot won't sound like a T-20 or a Foundation just because it has that one skimpy SF pickup.

They do sound similar to a foundation.. the Patriot has a sleeker body.. .. t20 does sound/feel different.

There's nothing skimpy about a P bass pickup (as everyone knows), so those of us that play them couldn't possibly feel offended.
The Patriot sounds thin by comparison because it has one small SF. Unlike the T-20's angled large SF, and the Foundation's twin SF pickups. The reason for the disparity in sound should be obvious.
Still, I'd guess that some players prefer a thin sound. I don't know any, but that doesn't mean they're not out there somewhere! lol
