That would be called a Peavey Fury, not a Peavey Precision.
Have you got a neck and a body yet?
I'll be honest. I'll take a Fender in the Tele Dept. I have owned 3 Generations. A trans black flame top S-3 that I picked up in a pawn shop for $25 in 1993 and a couple Generation Standards that I ultimately flipped in the last few years, one black, one 62 Blue. They are killer guitars, on paper and for the most part, in use. However, as much as I gel with Peavey Basses from the 80s, their guitars fall short with me. It's 95% the neck profile, it just doesn't bite and make me grab notes properly. Even my 80s Fenders with modern C type profiles just work better for me. My parts Tele (which sports a Super Ferrite in the neck position), is a killer Tele, as is my 88 American Standard Tele. I really did like how the pickups sounded in the Generations, and if weight was an issue, these didn't push it, as all 3 weighed about 6-6.5 pounds each. FWIW, the people I sold the Generations to love them. They all wanted quality Teles that were light. Done and done!
It's funny that way. The 80s basses are among my favorite things on earth, all of which have necks that I just fall into and love. However, I keep trying and not bonding with the guitars. Every single one. I bought an 83 Patriot guitar locally just to cannibalize the Super Ferrites for my Baritone Strat Covid project. That Patriot was built well, looked cool, but the neck just didn't feel right. I loaded it up with some GFS and sold it cheap. I have pulled back on a couple Patriot single humbucker models, as well as couple of Tracers, as I feel I may be disappointed.
I feel the same. Every split coil P pickup in a Peavey serves a good purpose. However, I have a couple that I just like better. The Geezer is great, as is the Duncan SPB1 and for active, the EMG PA and PAX.
I feel similar to @Bigtone Never really bonded with Peavey guitars although I've come close a few times. The tele I've bonded with and will be my lifetime one is a G&L ASAT BluesBoy. Better in build quality and feel than any Fender I've played.
Re: the split-P....I just have a thing for keeping my Peaveys stock. I've heard the 80's split P is a very good pickup and to be honest I'm not disappointed with my 90's Fury's pups.

I have a 90s fury pup in my Fender Zone pj, and it sounds pretty nice. Its a definite departure from some of the other P pickups I have access to, but its very warm and full. Not really punchy like a model p or something like that, but its a nice sound. Never used had an 80s one, but I do love the p in my b-ninety frankenstein, which is probably similar?

If your peavey exposed pole pickups make a rattling sound, check the glue (underside of the pickup) that holds the magnet to the coil. All you need to do is glue it back on - no new pickup needed.

I thought your neck had a truss rod that is shot?
Keep your eyes peeled in the places I mentioned, Fury basses turn up everywhere.
Did I mention Reverb and Pawn shops?
And your body is from a Peavey Fury...a passive P bass.
Precisions are made by Fender.

Interesting, although I stopped drinking JD after my first taste of Maker's!
I don't see the #7 knobs though...? Is this bass new or whats the production years(s)?
