@Templar Except for the HS logo I have nearly the same bass! The 0172xxxnumber seems to date it to 1984.

All these pics of 83/84 Foundations really makes me smile!
(no bias at all, haha)
Here's my 84 the day I picked it up at GC.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]Post the link please for all to see...?
Cheers!
Not yet, but I'm heading down that direction. I can dress the fret ends fairly well.Anyways..... anyone else in the group do your own refrets, leveling, etc?
Thanks for posting those color charts. I think you solved a mystery, pretty sure this early Foundation below (not mine) is "Pearl Heather" (?). Whatever color it actually is, it must be a rare bird.

Both. But, my press (if you can call it that) is one of those vice grip types. It’s a pain to use. I need to get better with the hammer and get my newly installed drill press set up to work as a fret press. I’ve seen people do that. What do you use to refret? Press, hammer, etc...?
Thats the same color as the one that was for sale on the Jacksonville Craig's list about 6 months ago. I posted a link up at the time. Very cool color.
I can't believe one of you Peavey guys didn't snatch that Gold Fury, may never see another like it again.

I guess I missed the link. Same bass, perhaps?
Who knows but the one in Jax was 350.00 in the case. It was a heck of a deal. I assume that is a different one and that would make exactly two I've seen in that color.
Yeah you should'a! I missed it, it was gone my 6:45 eastern time! Cool rare bass...Good for me or I would have missed the Foundy in "pearl rose"!
Fascinating (or not). According to the color chart Pearl Heather was offered on Foundations, but only on ones with a maple board. Same for Pearl Rose, maple boards only. Pearl White only for rosewood board Foundations. It also seems that the "pearl" finishes also included a matching headstock on Foundations (bonus!).
Apparently, fretless Foundations only came in Sunburst. Poor lefties, though....only black Foundations for them, evidently. I guess that's the price they pay for doing things backwards.![]()
