Hi all,
While cruising about on eBay I came across this Guild
and thought wow that's one really ugly bass!
The body for some reason makes me think of those
banana chew candies.
Maybe someone at Guild unwrapped several then smashed them
on the floor and said "That would make a wild guitar body
and color is right too!"
Ok everyone else post yours.

Cheers,
Douglas

That looks like SpongeBob with something stuck in his head!

That's nothing. The following bass is the ugliest ever. I'm on record as saying this neck and body must either:

1. Be cleansed by flame
2. Strapped to the belly of an alligator and shot into space

Call me weird, but with a little loving I would gladly play that bass. It wouldn't be pretty, but it has something going for it.

That green 9-string is pretty fowl; but there's something about it that's inexplicably appealing to me. Don't know why. I don't think I'd turn it down if it came up. And if the price was right. And if there wasn't anything else I wanted.

Would you string up and play a large scab?

Only if it was somebody else's. Considering that my project basses looks like this:

And this in a black finish:

it's not all that bad-looking. Fortunately the pissburst finish on the Teisco bass doesn't look so bad in-person. As for that other lovely burn victim of a bass, I just think that with a good finish, some re-shaping, four matching tuners, maybe a matching veneer on the headstock and body (to hide the hideous grain on the headstock), some block inlays, and a blind audience, and it could look good.
