Yeah me again... Would you guys be happy to play a bass that felt great and sounded great but.... You considered it to be a bit ugly?
i would totally play it! because if it was ugly i wouldn't feel so bad about natural road wear & tear, and especially since i could probably make a cool refinish project out of it
Never; there are so many nice looking/playing basses out there - besides beauty is in the eye of the beholder ..... isn't it?
Yes, as long as it has something going for it, I would in many situations. In fact, I have played venues/situations where I'd rather not take a pretty bass anyway.
If I found it to be ugly? Nope. If I didn't find it to be ugly? Yes. If I didn't find it to be ugly but you did? Yes, just to anger you.
I love the look of Bongos. I'd love to own one if they weren't so damn heavy. I'd also like a Big Al - B/B/M
Not me. There is a very popular bass brand that I think sounds and plays outstanding. I won't play it 'cuz I think it's ugly. And I can get that tone and playability from other more aesthetically pleasing basses.
Only other musicians actually care or even pay attention to your instrument. And only other bass players care about your gear, and even then it's all about your tone and skill. The average public only judges the band as a whole....unless you're some strikingly handsome bass player, long hair flowing in the breeze and crooning an incredibly touching love song, in which case, the audience is not really focused on your bass, now are they?
To me basses are like dogs, there just isn't any ugly ones. In fact, I don't think I ever saw a bass and said, "that's ugly."
