Uh Oh - Maybe This Stupid Coronavirus is Having an Effect on Audience Numbers

Hi Paula :)

EDIT- We have suspended live music until further notice.

Big  for that!!!

This is a virus that kills!

And people who do something that helps to spread it are stupid! (IMO of course)

Remember AIDS? "Only junkies and gays can get it…" :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

or "Everything is under control now that we have pills?" :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

It is not easy to have that full stop!

For most of us it will be very hard.

But it is the right thing to do!

Just like "safer sex"

greetings

Wise

The club I'm booked to play on April 11 has shut down, but I don't know what their long term plans are. A friend who works a jam there on Sundays just posted that the show today is cancelled in the interest of public health.

Don't know anything about the April 4 room yet.

The governor of Ohio mandated the closure of all bars and restaurants (with exceptions for delivery and take-out) effective at 9:00 p.m. EST today; gatherings of over 100 people were banned already. My gigs (all at bars) are cancelled. Thoughts and prayers for everyone!

just venting.... St. Patricks Day gig tomorrow. the bar hasn’t cancelled and i don’t think they will on their own. i understand that they’ll probably be forced to close eventually, and they want to make every dollar while they can. and i really don’t want to cancel either, but my singer does. i think we’re all probably going to get it eventually either way, but i understand his desire to stave off the inevitable at least one more day. i don’t want to disappoint the booking agency or the bar. sucks. i’m torn. plus,’of course i was so looking forward to playing with my new gear i got this weekend. ughhhh.

You're singer seems responsible and reasonable.

Be safe.

Cancel. We can't assume everyone else will do the right thing, so you have to for yourself.

Nearly 400 people died in Italy the other day - in one day! I really wouldn't want to be playing a gig either!

New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut are ordering all bars, casinos, theaters, restaurants, and gyms to close at 8 pm tonight. So the majority of my gigs are cancelled. I'm guessing that Pennsylvania and Delaware will follow suit, and then they'll all be cancelled.

There will also be a curfew in New Jersey from 8 pm to 5 am.

On the bright side, I will have more time to practice.

My band has canceled all gigs for March and April. We still have a couple in May, and we're leaving those on the calendar until we get closer to those dates.

My own guess is that it's not going to be until fall at the earliest that things are better. The goal of "flattening the curve" to avoid overloading the healthcare system basically spreads the pandemic over a longer period to save lives. This seems like the right thing to do, but it means things aren't likely to get better for a while.
