Here’s my mini board, on a Pedaltrain Nano (or Nano+?) This sits on top of my amp at every gig. The Noble’s built in power supply is pretty convenient.
Good word! I think this is the essence of the thread, rigs small enough not to need a board. IMO, that means no more than two pedals. There's another thread for compact boards. Here's my ultra minimal sansboard. It's good to go with cables and two 9v batteries.
I'm sure Rick expresses that he'd never want to give up a good pedal, but unfortunately we can't always be together forever with our gear. Just hold it in your arms for a while and let it go to a better home.
If I haven’t used a pedal in over a year I often hand it off to someone who will.
But I have an unfortunate tendency to get something else soon after I do, so the overall number remains fairly constant.
So much gear to try. So little time and money.
It has for me for the last year or so.
But I think a lot depends on what music you’re currently doing. Except for at home with friends I’m not out doing prog or experimental/alt stuff like I used to.
Today I’m mostly doing the traditional bass player role on the few occasions I still get to play out. And for that, all that’s needed (or wanted tbh) is a good solid bass tone that sits well in the mix. And that’s where you can find at least some degree of truth in the adage that says “it’s all in the fingers.”

I know I could search for this, and the answer is prob everywhere and been answered a million times. But you're right here so... what is the drive circuit actually like on the sansamp? Does it hold up to standalone pedals?
It’s great just as a drive pedal and a lot of folks use it that way. You will see pictures of boards with the BDDI on it and another preamp as well. It tends to sound to my ears like an amp drive sound, which I guess you would expect based on what the pedal does.
I haven’t had one in a minute ( it’s the last pedal I want to get for my collection ), but now use the model in the HX One or MS-60B+ strictly as an alternative drive.
The B3n is a cool multi-effect. Or maybe it could even be more accurately called a multi multi-effect? You can still get them for reasonable prices on the used market too. I didn’t care for the cab sims on the one I tried out. But I did like every other effect it had.
I know a couple of modular synth player who have incorporated the B3n into their setups.
Here’s mine I just put together. I use the Hotone Jogg just for the aux in/ headphone for practice as well as it’s actually a great interface for a DAW. It’s powered by a rechargeable CNZ power supply. With this power supply, I can run other pedals “ad hoc” if needed. All mounted to a Mono riser. Very compact.

My mini board. Had fun doing this project. I’ll probably change it up with a Studio One + Fliptop. Studio one is on the way but for now this sounds fab!

Are you running a tiny power brick under the PB2? Or just a Daisy chain?

Thanks man! It’s daisy chained atm. I’m trying to find a solution if there’s a way in daisy chain where one can be under 18volt. I like the Fliptop in 18 volt when I plugged it in my main board.
Also wanted to ask where’d you buy your george L patch cable?
Yeah I hear you on the 18v, that’s why I went for the Barber Linden EQ, works internally at 25v from a 9v supply.
Could you use the Noble 18v DC Boost cable? Extras : Noble Amplifier Company
Suppose it depends on whether that taped circuitry is low-profile enough to fit under the PB02, fingers crossed.
No idea where I got the George L from I’m afraid, many many years ago, probably used from Basschat. I’ll likely swap it out for an EBS flat patch at some point.

Don't sleep on the Line 6 POD Express Bass if you're on the fence. SOLID piece of gear. Line 6 killed it with the free edit app that allows you to fine tune every single little perimeter for each effect.
Mini board from spares on a pedal riser. Sounds killer, clean and fat. Linden is for sale locally but no interest so it may as well be ready for use.
