I think the OP is looking for a short scale.Get a used bass and get more value for your money. You can find a Yamaha BB 300 days for under $200 used all day long. Fantastic p bass killer.
Ibanez Talman TMB30 delivers way too much shortscale goodness for the $180 shipped Sweetwater us selling them. I had a SS Jag same time as Talman. The ibby neck was way more to my liking. The jag is a solid second choice though. OP should test both and go from there as I think those model set the bar for inexpensive shorties.I like the fact that bronco and EB0 are short scale, that makes everything easier

If I came across a black EB-0 for $79, I have to admit I would make another attempt to connect with its feel and sound. I love how they look, but I'm more into the P-bass feel and sound.
A black EB-0 for $79 might be a good starting point for a budget EB-3 project, too...having that bridge pickup option might go a long way toward making me like the sound.

Those things are very pretty, to my eye. Always liked the look of SG guitars, too, but the EB-0 is even prettier because there's so little hardware and so much wood surface and finish color.
Sad thing is that for myself, if it is a player I would still care about it. It would have to be a complete POS for me not to care about it.
And then if its a POS why even bother.
Is it bad that I find these highly aesthetically pleasing? These are $199 new. Less if you can find them used. They sound exactly like a P bass. Nobody will steal them.
