Given those choices, you might consider the bugera 5500, provided you have full warranty/return options.

When they work they are decent. There is much hate for behringer/bugera, but they can actually sound pretty good, there are bad ones in the batches sometimes, but if you can get past name pride, they are worth a shot. And if you have a problem your dad can return it for an exchange.

My experience comparing max combos to rumble combos, the max is for peavey fans or someone trying to save a few bucks. Nothing special and not an exceptional value either. The bugera has more flexibility too.

Then when you have a €700 budget in the future you can always get something "name brand"

While bugera is a Beringer brand, they sound MUCH better than Beringer amps. They are the best at cloning tube guitar amps at a low price.

Consider it Beringer's top of the line, as in, an amp.company rather than a pro audio company making cheap dbx and Mackie knockoffs.

However I have seen the earlier Beringer ashdown knockoffs sound pretty impressive. I would sooner rock a bugera than a Beringer, even knowing they are the same parent. I had the v5 tube amp for several years and loved it.

Warranty and return options are quite nice. Swallow the pride, grab the bugera, save a bunch, and have the peace of mind of warranty protection, an option to return if you can't get a good tone out of it. Listen with ears not eyes, and have an open mind. You may not regret it.

Nope the cheaper one, you don't need to pay more for a 2000w wannabe boutique amp, think of the bvp5500 as an svt3pro clone with more power. Full 4 tube preamp, with a 300/550w power section. Has more eq options. And that price is mad cheap, bugera being a German company of course. It was cloned after the ampeg svt front end for sure. That's what they do, make.cheaper versions/homage to the name brands.

If you have to buy used, see if the warrantee is transferable. Some are, some only apply to the original purchaser. I do not know all the details in the EU, Thoman may be in charge of the warrantees there.

Also, a few years back there was a guy trying to get a whole rig for $300. There happened to be a clearance of the last version of rumble 410 for $200, which was 4 ohms, and the $150 Beringer ultrabass 300w micro, he got it and liked it. That was on the thomann page as well. But the bugera is much better and more power for not much more. And starting with an 8ohm cab, more power is a good thing.

Yup. Svt3 clone. Nice to have those tubes too. And the graphic eq! It's very cheap tho. I can't believe it bothers me but it's very cheap. Good thing about thomann is that I can send it back in 30 days.

I didn't say the veyron is crap. It is not going for an ampeg tone, and that version lacks the tube preamp and costs more. There was a tube preamp veyron too.

Better to go with what is a proven copy of the amp you can't afford and almost half off the cost of the veyron.

Older technology can be copied for much cheaper cost than newer. Bugera is definitely bang for buck. But you need the warranty for piece of mind. Bahahhah and you get it for less than the cost of used with no warranty

You won't need the sansamp.

I used svt3pro and svt4pro as backline, and was able to dial it all in on the amp. You need sans amp to make tone hammer and gk MB amps go grindy ampeg, but I'm sure the bvp5500 will get close enough out of the box, and you can always upgrade the tubes (bugera tubes are nothing to write home about)

Remember its also 12.4kg, so a bit heavier than what is en vogue now, keeps prices down

The word is inexpensive.

As long as you don't get a defective unit, bugera in general can sound 90% as good as what they are cloning.

Now politics on the other hand, slave labor etc... But that also applies to most major brand names as well.

Nobody else is chiming in now because there is a stigma to Beringer and bugera on here. And I am not one of those idiots who swears by them and says stupid things like "Beringer watts are louder". I like good gear. But I won't say bugera is BAD gear, it isn't (qc slips excluded), but it is not gear snob approved gear.

Once you get past the stigma, you can be at 90% performance for much lower price.

And if price wasn't an issue, you would have a new ampeg with warranty, or a mesa d800 or something.

Price is an issue, shopping in Germany, bugera is cheap with a warranty... So there you go.

Nothing to lose but pride of ownership really. It is what it is. They do what they do. And they do it well enough to be succeeding for almost a decade.
