I totally forgot about the electricity. Back to the amps. There are a lot of amps available. From little GK Mb200 to SVT Classics. I was also wondering about the micro stack, but that looks like a toy in my POV.
I'm that guy who would like to find his own tone, and I'll be pissed off if I don't. (I know, that's not good). I was into the PF's because they're small, and they sound exactly like what I want (ultra lo and ultra hi). What I want? A growly, deep but very bright scooped tone.
I was wondering about the Ashdowns myself, but they look big and they don't get a lot of love around here. I wish I could afford a subway d800. I was going for one of those originally, but they were out of my league.
I have to look after Markbass amps too. I don't need a lot of power. Only enough to power a 410 or 2 210s. That being said, I don't want it to be quiet at all.

If you really want the Ampeg tone, you're not going to want Eden or Hartke speaker cabinets. They have an extremely modern voicing. Ampeg tone = sealed cabinets and paper cones.
The tone he is going for is actually more modern ampeg where the eden will work. Ampeg was making ported modern style cabs in the period he is going for, and those cabs were basically ampeg trying to be eden and swr, ports and tweets.
But then again I have been a cab snob at times, and think most cabs are better than the basic sealed svt classic cabs
I didn't notice it, but as you highlighted it, it is funny indeed. He's saying the truth tho, and I'm very happy and lucky to have someone taking care for all of this for me. I'd be wasting money like hell without him. So thank you!
Also thanks for everyone commenting in this thread (I'm not joking, I just can't tag you all since I'm on phone) for helping me out. Most likely this will be my one and only rig, and it's very important for me not to waste money on cr*p and buy the best and most affordable products.

I will go with the Eden, or with two ampeg 210s. I had a long talk with a guy about hartkes, he owns a PF 800 and two 410 hartkes. I don't need that much power tho (I'd also like to thank him for awesome tipps) so I'd go the ways mentioned above.
This thread turned to more of an amp discussing now, since my idea of buying a PF 500 is shattered. Because of Good reasons.

If you can find one there, the Genz Benz Streamliners pull off the Ampeg tone VERY nicely.
The older Ashdown stuff was GREAT! Haven't had much experience with the new stuff though. I'm a dedicated Aguilar guy now...
I don't think I'm discounting Ampeg in blanket fashion either (although I do feel that way ever since LOUD took them over). I don't trust the PF series and won't use them. However, my band has a old SVT4 that's very solid and sounds pretty much as expected.
But in our current discussion we are trying to help a fellow who asked about a specific amp that we know to be problematic, we are offering to him alternatives.
Earlier I posted about Ashdown as a consideration, since I believe they are less expensive in Europe. I've had something like 3 of them in the past, and the last one I had was so beefy we used to get calls from neighbors complaining about the bass. IMO that's a plus. ;-) . My question is, what do others think of Ashdown?
You can beat me for this but I'm not going for the round, warm , presence-less flatwound tone. I'm more into the tones I posted before, you guys saw them?

How much are used Aguilar ToneHammers there? Because to me, that's exactly what you're describing...
Can't find any used one.. New they go for 750 (500w) and 500 euros (350w) respectively.
That's how I used to associate the ampeg tone, muddy. But later on I realized there was some snap to ampeg, but it still wasn't my choice.
I used swr bass350 for many years, and it did the swr modern punchy hi fi sound, but I was also able to get a nasty grind out of it that most would assume was an overdriven svt tone. Some ******* stole it last year... I bought it new in 1998... Only owned one other head since, acoustic b600h I bought as a backup because I had a hookup at GC who sold it to me for barely over cost. Let's say GC was almost tripling their money when they sold those at $499. Now it is my only head, sitting in storage with my swr Goliath III, all that remains of my old amp/cab gear since the rest except my rumble 200c got stolen in the same incident. I recently got the 112 cab to go with it, and that is my rig nowadays. It is much louder than most other 200w amps, hence my recommendation for the 500 head. And I would not suggest the micro ampeg, not enough power for you, the rumble 200 was louder than the micro vr. I had a micro cl which was cool for what it was, but underpowered. I actually used the cab from it with my rumble, I sold that little guy not long before I got ripped off. I was going to use the money for a pair of old swr 210 workingman's that had the same grille as my Goliath and Bertha cabs, but the incident where I got ripped off also ended up detaining me so I lost out on those old cabs ($75 and $100), as well as any chance to track down the stolen stuff. Conspiracy??? You betcha!
I wonder how much the peavey mini mega 1000 is over there? It is a solid 700w 8ohm the eden could handle it.

Its really a shame rumbles are price gouged over there, here they are still the best value and uber versatile. With the vintage, contour and bright buttons, switchable overdrive and 4 band eq, they are easy to dial in tones. Last 2 auditions, drop C SOAD covers on an active ibanez, and overdriven rock pbass drop d tone on the next.
If course DBag soad tribute bands hear with their eyes, still waiting for a guy to come in with a tbird and ashdown I bet.
It hasnt been a week since the last one, so the jury is still deliberating. It reaks of dead end hobby band of dudes with money though...
Otherwise there is a conspiracy, and I am bound to say or type one little thing that gets these people to magically stop responding, most times before even meeting and playing. Same thing with women, go figure.

I don't think you would like markbass.
Pre fender and especially pre sun valley Goliath III cabs are really sweet. The eden is even a step above in terms of throwing lows around, the Goliath has a slightly less scooped sound, but in either case a slight eq tweak takes care of it. The eden will give you more headroom since it is more efficient especially in the low end.
Reason I sold it and kept my Goliath, weight and sentiment. I didn't need 2 410, 2 210 and a 15 cab, so I decided to part with the Edens, also since they were worth more.
The original Goliath cabs were made for swr by eden, so there is barely a fork in the family tree. Swr started a downward spiral the first time he sold the company, when the new company sold to fender, things went to poop. But then fender bass amps started to get better, go figure.

My Goliath IIjr cab was a bummer to lose, but not as much of a bummer as my 115 son of Bertha, that was an exceptional and not oversized 115 cabinet, and played well with the Goliath III it was matched to, as well as the 210xlt. I never paired it to the other 410, as I liked to use both Edens together for the uber 610 rig (and yes the 210 drivers diverted more watts, but it was a killer rig and you would barely notice unless you read these forums, and even then you would wonder what the big deal was)
Given those choices, you might consider the bugera 5500, provided you have full warranty/return options.
When they work they are decent. There is much hate for behringer/bugera, but they can actually sound pretty good, there are bad ones in the batches sometimes, but if you can get past name pride, they are worth a shot. And if you have a problem your dad can return it for an exchange.
