They're rare (but they can be found, I missed a deal for an ampeg svt 7 pro for 580.. still hate myself) and they're above 400-500..
Also I've read that the B5r doesn't sound very ampegy..

I'm really afraid of that indeed., I need to have a deep talk with the sellers about the series and date. Always good to have back-up plans.

I looked in my schematic cache before LOUD rethought allowing current products to be available and the last at that time revision D with main board J02. There may be others after that. I would be more comfortable with the PF 350 or PF 800 especially since getting service will be a HUGE issue for you. PF 500 would be a gamble I would not be comfortable recommending personally.

I wouldnt think the b series would be much different than pf at least the pre/front end

Svt3pro though, less power, almost 300@8 and 450@4, it is decent for sure, the b series just does not have the preamp tubes, neither does the pf

You need to be a supporting member to do this, less than $30 usd for a year.

The B2RE was the least Ampeg sounding Ampeg next to the SVT 350 and 450. The "B" series is very different sounding and was gear towards a non standard Ampeg tone.

3-PRO was/is a great amp head.
