I played a Warwick yesterday and it was out of tune, which is poor quality. I wasn't impressed.

Try a Fender USA Jazz. You'll like the neck much better since you're used to an Ibanez neck.

Better yet, Try a Marcus miller Jazz. Those necks are tiny!

I only got serious about pets about 2 years ago so I had never actually owned a dog before. But today I looked at a rescue puppy at the pound. Unimpressed! He did not have a collar or a leash. Hair too long, but then I'm used to my parakeet. I would expect much better. I tried out a cat. That was a little better but still no collar.

There is such a thing as an invalid opinion. Criticizing an entire brand because of string height and neck shape is the same as saying “I expected more from the Honda Civic. This one’s seat was too far back, and I like trucks.”

Plenty of fine reasons for someone to dislike Fender. This ain’t one of them.

I only got serious about bass about 2 years ago so I had never actually played a Fender bass before. But today I tried out a made in Mexico Fender. Invalid Link Removed Unimpressed! Strings too far away from the fretboard. Neck too thick, but then I'm used to my Ibanez.
For $800 I would expect much better.
I tried out a $1,500 Fender. That was a little better but still the strings were too far from the fretboard.

Yeah, neck profies between an Ibby and a Fender couldn't be more different. I've been hot and cold toward Fenders ever since I started playing, and that's due to most of them having setups that don't appeal to me. So it's difficult to find the gems. I have played some mighty good Fenders though, so they're out there. I played a 4 string fretted Jazz at Flores in Peoria a few months back that had me considering selling my Skjold for LOL

Dude, this post is just as bad as the OP. You acknowledge that you don't like Fenders because of the setup, then you say it is difficult to find gems, but you have played a few good Fenders. Do you actually understand what a setup is and what an improperly setup bass looks like?
