Unusual Rock Trivia?

Clare Fischer: noted American keyboardist, composer, arranger, and bandleader on his long term relationship with Prince who never met. He wrote many string arrangements for Prince.

According to Fischer, his collaboration with Prince was pleasant and fruitful. The somewhat odd couple joined forces on more than forty pieces. “Prince is intelligent. He never visits the studio when I am working for him; and I have never met him in person. He sends me memos and we talk over the phone. Once I sent him my “2+2″ Grammy winning CD. I heard from people that were present at the time that while he took out the disc he looked away from the cover, saying, ‘I don’t want to know what he looks like. It is working just fine as it is.’ Prince does not want to meet me because he knows that the minute he walks into a studio he will start interfering. It is uncommon that a person with such a strong ego realizes that I have an ego too,” said Fischer.

Clare & Brent Fischer

Indeed, Prince even acknowledged Clare Fischer in the album liner notes of the Parade album: “With special thanks 2 Clare Fischer 4 Making Brighter the Colors Black and White.”
That reminds me of Otis Blackwell, the man who wrote "Don't Be Cruel," "All Shook Up" and "Return to Sender" for Elvis Presley.

According to Blackwell, he didn't want to meet Elvis because he thought it might interfere with what was going so well (starting at 5:29 in the video, but the whole thing is well worth watching):

Lulu (To Sir with Love) Recorded David Bowies' The Man who sold the World in 1974. David Bowie wrote the song and also produced it, along with Mick Ronson. Bowie provided the backing vocals and Sax and Mick Ronson did the guitar work on Lulu's track. The Man Who Sold The World reached #3 in the UK charts.

Then there was this, with Peter “Herman” Noone…

Bowie played piano on the recording session, and this single came out before Bowie’s Hunky Dory album, featuring his own version.

Super Groups used to be raved up where members from various groups joined together to create some good new music!
The Empty Hearts are Elliot Easton (The Cars), Clem Burke (Blondie), Wally Palmar (The Romantics) and Andy Babiuk (The Chesterfield Kings). These guys play some great mashup of all of their previous groups to make some nice music.

Andy Babiuk ? Is that the guy that wrote The Beatles Gear book?

I saw this and thought it was interesting Eric Clapton got both handprints in 1998 as members of the Yardbirds at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Clapton is the only person on the planet to have ever been inducted to thr R&RHOF 3 times: The Yardbirds, Cream, and his solo career.

He’s also the only person who I’ve ever seen in concert. Nathan East was on bass that night and he was incredible!
