Up in smoke - no new orders

You know a luthier's had it when this becomes their website splash screen.

Wow. Just wow. I've heard instruments referred to as "firewood," but never thought I'd see the reality.

I know the feeling. I use figured wood to turn reel seat inserts and I go to a friend's cabinet shop one day and he's tossing pieces of some of the most beautiful birdseye maple in his wood heater. They were drops from some cabinet doors he was making and too small for him to use for anything else so he was using them to heat his shop. They were really too small to be of any practical use, but watching such nice wood (even scraps) go to the fire just struck me at that moment as wrong.

It happens. I had a few projects around and well, realized I would never get to them. For one reason or another, couldn't properly recycle the wood, so became one sweet smelling set of logs for my fireplace. Guitar necks that warp or disfigure are especially good for fire starter....

It's Gwen at Dismal Axe. http://www.dismalax.com/
I've got one of the two basses she made & I love it.

WOW! I love her work - I sure hope she's not going out of business, I'd love to order a guitar from here. Really liked this one...

Could totally do that with an NH "Live Free or Die" plate.
