UPS got me sweating a bit

I just noticed this under the shipping progress part of my current UPS delivery. Unsure why some of the information is now gated.

Shipping woes are the single most hurdle for me to get over from selling/buying a bass!
I’m going with “Local Only” going forward in spite of the narrow/shallow market. At least I know exactly where it is until/if it sells.

Ah yes. Shipping woes. I ordered a new amp last week and it was scheduled to arrive Thursday. We saw a FedEx Ground truck park at the end of our drive for five minutes on Thursday afternoon. He then drove off. Tracking status changed to "delayed."

Then comes Friday. Tracking changed to "by end of day." So I wait. Around 2pm a FedEx Ground truck once again parked at the end of our driveway. Sat for five minutes. Drove off, just like before. Tracking info changed again. I called shipper just to confirm they had the address correct. They did. So they called FedEx to complain. I called FedEx to complain, emphasizing they were within 75' of our door and that their driver never even got out of his truck.

It finally arrived on Saturday. Probably a different driver since it was a weekend. I would like to note, we have the address number on both the house as well as on the mailbox that was a few feet from where the FedEx Ground truck parked. First time we've ever had delivery issues. But the shipper told me this is happening more and more. FedEx and UPS have staffing issues and some of their new hires are a few puppies short of a pet shop. Hopefully, this one driver gets purged.

Granted, if stuff is insured when you ship it, you won't be out if it goes AWOL or damaged from bouncing around for a few days. In my case, the seller said they'd ship a new one Monday and we'd work out the return of the extra amp if it ever showed.

Meanwhile, the shippers tack on a fuel surcharge but, like a few years ago when gas prices went down, those increases never seem to go back down.

I've got one crossing the ocean from WA this week too! Hasnt updated since it hit san fransisco friday morning. I chalk it down to weekend, but who knows. Theres a lot of package f+ckery going on in SF these days...

I've had packages that were updated every step of the way, and some that basically just said "recieved by carrier, on its way" and then nothing until delivery (some times as much as a month later).
I find the ones from asia are the hardest to track. Domestic packages (in norway) are by far the most reliable, and internationally the UK ones are the most reliable. US is pretty good too, depending on carrier.

DHL can suck a stick... They once managed to lose half of a shipment at the airport 30 mins from my house, and it took them 4 weeks to find it. By that time I was so desperate to get it, we drove there, and got a special permit to pass through security with a car and pick it up from their warehouse. My first encounter with a bomb k9.. Which was kinda cool, but it really messed up some planned gigs for us, as this was new PA equipment and we didnt have time to get used to it..

What is that ,like a 3000 mile journey.
It’s most likely a six day ship. I wouldn’t be concerned until day seven or so.
Not really concerned about if it will arrive on-time (yet). My curiosity is more associated with the lack of tracking updates and, per the original post, if others are seeing similar trends.

I ordered a ridiculously cool bass last Monday. It's coming from Washington state, all the way across to the East Coast. On Tuesday, the UPS tracking said "Departed from Facility" and hasn't updated since.

I contacted the seller and he told me that UPS has recently been bad about updating tracking as it progresses to its destination. I've never experienced this. Anyone else?

(Yes, yes, I know. I'm being impatient and probably a little bit paranoid. That's part of the experience... lol :hyper:)

So what's the really cool bass?

Had a bass being shipped by ups last week. Tracking on it was spotty at best. Got a notice when it got to their facility on the West coast and nothing until it got to the hub that final delivery would be made out of. About 5 days of silence. Half way chalked it up to being Easter weekend.

I ordered a pickup from Nordstrand, shipped by USPS. The tracking was decent - updated at least daily. However, it shipped from California, on its way to the Midwest. It got diverted to.....Guam. It did eventually arrive (a few days late - duh) So, do you want good tracking or do you want your package?

UPS is great at getting packages to you.
Fedex sucks.. I ordered one of the steak company deals that is supposed to come flash frozen within 3 days.. twice Fedex delayed the shipment over to 5 days.. twice warm defrosted meat.. The company refunded me and we just gave up... never had that kind of thing with UPS.....
