That's not bad, but I've had inconsistencies where I take a box to FedEx that I think is going to cost $X and it ends up being $40-50 more at the counter. The dimensional weight hit was more than stated online.
Yeah, it's getting to the point where I'd rather not sell than lose $200 on shipping and PayPal fees. Trade-in at Guitar Center becomes more appealing. It's easier to add shipping costs on Reverb, but on TB, shipping is expected to be included. That was fine ten years ago, not so much today.
From their site: "$50.01 to $100 is $2.05. $100.01 to $200 is $2.45. $200.01 to $300 is $4.60. The price per additional $100 of insurance, valued over $300 up to $5,000, is $4.60 plus $0.90 per each $100 or fraction thereof."

USPS used to have a maximum insurance limit of something like $500. That was years ago though.
Open an account with Fedex or UPS to get a discount. The most I've paid from Arizona to the east coast this year is $75, fully insured. I buy and sell a fair number of basses (fickle me) almost all in cases. With a standard 50-52" long box if there's any room at the end, cut the box to fit. It's the length more than anything that increases the rate but all three dimensions matter, quite a bit. Try changing the dimensions in the shipping calculator to see what a little box-cutter finesse might do and you'll start saving some bucks for a few minutes work. Right now UPS has a discount code "easy" that is a nice holiday deal. I just shipped a bass in case for $44 and I've never had a bass arrive damaged unless it was shipped TO me. And bubble wrap around the headstock, please.
Yeah, now that you mention it that 25.00 is on the short side. The width & depth dims and the weight are still kosher but yep 25.00inches length? I was just transcribing what was printed on my receipt for that shipment, it even states 'js-non haz-guitar' in the description of goods. The UPS clerk entered the dims & the weight so probably an honest error? I was chatting her up during the transaction so maybe I distracted her? either that or she thought I was a sorta cute guitar player and cut me some slack lol! yep, that's what I'm going with.
