If it's the $12,000 Boston piece it's a nice bass, I liked the set-up and sound on it... they've dropped the price some on it and made it a better value. It was the "reference sound" for me and I used it to judge the sound of some of their other displayed basses against it. I was speaking to Eric about it just a couple of days ago, I wasn't aware it had been sold. Good luck with it.

Just reading thru these posts (thanks guys!!) A Tyrolean could be fun, I already feel like the Mittenwald does everything and more than the Bohemian, and isn't quite different enough. I'm totally open to ideas.

It's getting really, REALLY hard to decide what direction to go-- I'm still leaning toward Bohemian, but I love flat-back Gamba-cornered basses, in general. I hope you guys don't come out with too many more anytime soon-- if you were to throw a Tyrolean (complete with the upright, skinny ff holes with the fat, round lower lobes) into the mix, I might start pulling my hair out!

If I wasn't such a hopelessly-mediocre player (my apartment complex's noise ordinance greatly-restricts my opportunities to practice), I'd be happy to come up and be a "tester" for such a creation! :D

OKAY, OKAY, so it's not THE "Mittenwald" model-- but this is an Upton bass using a pattern from Mittenwald, circa 1780, Kloz school, to be precise!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Mittenwald's release, but I'm bored, and couldn't resist the opportunity to mess with people.
