my first introduction to the differences in the services went like this:
i went to the recruiting offices. the air force, marines, and the navy were all right next door to one another. my father was air force and i knew that would be my first option, then the navy would be my second option.
i walked into the air force recruiting office. they had three females in there and they were all sitting around jokin'-n-cokin'. they told me to come back after lunch.
so i walked past the marines office on my way to the navy office. i thought i was going to get physically dragged in by the marine standing by the door.
i went to the navy, they were a combined office with the Coast Guard. they had several people in there already ahead of me, but asked me to read some pamphlets and they would be with me in just a few minutes.
i guess the moral of this story is similar to Goldilocks. The Air Force was too cold, the marines were too hot, but the navy was just right.
i agree with Neptoon in regard to the nuke program. research exactly what you think your job will entail as much as possible. everyjob will have its drawbacks, but they will also have their perks.
