US Navy

Link Removed These pics are huge, so I won't post them here. Maybe I'm colorblind...
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about, you'd have to almost hold them next to each other to tell the difference, they are dark navy. The one I have across the room looks black but if you hold it, it's navy.

well, i've got a little bit of a different take on the navy...i'm a missile technician riding ballistic missile submarines right here out of silverdale...and i rode another back in king's bay, georgia for 5 years...we carry nuclear missiles, so we never pull into foreign ports or check out all the sights...we never forward deploy or get shot at because our targets can be hit from thousands of miles away...we pull out, submerge, do an alert deterrent patrol and surface 3 months later and come back home...that's about it...join the air force...and whatever you do...i don't care...DO NOT JOIN TO BE A NUKE!!!!!!! holy crap, the navy beats the mud out of those guys...you have never seen ******** training and such silly working hours as a nuke...it's freaking ridiculous...especially on submarines...sweet jeezus, don't do it...i say again...join the air force...that's what i would've done...i can't complain, though, i guess...i made E-6 in 6 years, so the pay and advancement opportunity is alright...plus, i had friday and today (monday) off...and i'll get wednesday off, too...and friday again :D but then i'll have to do one of those 3 month patrols again...oh yeah, another thing about missile boats...we have two crews, so the ship can stay at sea all the time...when they leave, my crew is in port at home, and when i go, the other crew stays home...best deal going in the navy for sea/shore rotation...at any rate, i better hush...

Didn't you guys carry "reservist" ID cards. :hiding:

Sorry, couldn't resisit. 20 years on attack boats. Yea, you guys had better inport/at sea rotation, but we had more fun.

Man, I tell you what - I've been driving by those guys every day for the past 4 1/2 years, and I'd have sworn (well, I did swear here, didn't I) that those things were black.

So would 99% of my coworkers (I asked).

Learn something new every day. Hope that it's on this year's PFE :D

The sailors are given the auxilliary jobs so the real shooters can be used elsewhere. So we do convoy, prison guard duty, etc. etc. Basically, everything but the janitorial jobs (the Air Force has that career path monopolized)

Besides, it's the military. There is always a chance to be shot at and to shoot someone.

I thought everything below PO WAS a janitorial job. It may be below Chief.

They do tell you,or did me, that your only guaranteed to be trained in a job, and they'll put you where they need you. The Soviets were the enemy at that time so I was also told, if war broke out I was in for the duration. That may not have been long with what we were pointing at each other.

Try to get an audition for one of the bands. I have been in the USAF band as full time bassist for 20 years. It's a great gig (overall). If you can land a gig in one of the premier bands in Wash. DC or Annapolis, MD you'll start out as an E-6. I've been in the USAF DC Band for 9 years and having been in a few regional bands too I can say the DC gig is the way to go.

Hey Blake, which group are you playing in? I know Dave's in the rock band (Vince is a friend of mine).
