My guess is the exray made it look like a lithium battery and nobody bothered to double check. For what it's worth I have more issues with my UPS driver than with USPS. UPS just puts packages in the middle of my carport where I cannot see them. Ran over two packages already.

Is it chrome or coloured? Some black finishing options for hardware cannot be sold in Europe. I don't know how it applies to personal sales though, if at all. The folks at Dingwall noticed my Carvin's hardware and commented on how they couldn't sell basses with it to Europe. It is all over my paygrade.

Probably kicked out by a computerized X-ray and destination analysis without human intervention except to scrawl some obscure barely-legible reject code on the label.

It's "opaque". Which would lead me to assume they rejected it because it won't X-ray. As one might expect from a bass bridge.

@MTN.bass72, as far as you know are these guesses all possibilities? Do they all go thru some kind of monitored scanning process or do they just randomly grab one out of any certain number of mailings to spot check??

USPS window clerks have much more information than carriers who are basically just the mule in the postal service. Even the rural carriers who are billed as the post office on wheels. In any case Homeland Security said no, or the next line in the postal service as their deputy said no.

I'm a carrier myself.. in all honesty, I'm clueless too. I've never seen anything like that. Whatever is written in the "other" space doesn't even look like a word... but with international shipping, you never know what it if anything odd will happen...
That's with any delivery service, not just USPS..
@Spacecase ... I hate to hear you've had so many issues..
I don't know where you're at, but there are numerous offices that are very poorly managed...
As for things not getting delivered, or not being resumed on date specified by you, it could be one of a hundred reasons as to how or why it happened.

we have black finishes here too, various types. I can't imagine there's any that cannot be sold... do you have any more info? Because it sounds like somebody somewhere misunderstood something.

It looks like someone didn't realise that the bridge was a solid piece of metal and to them it looked like it was a box containing something?
I find it strange but when it comes to carriers, I've seen a lot of surprising things.

I'd make sure that there is no metal wrapper and try to send again, indicating the contents a bit more specifically, like solid metal guitar part or something.

In all honesty, I have no way of knowing what exactly happened here. There are definitely more strict policies when shipping or recieving from out of country... which is good
Plus, depending the country dictates what guidelines they use for their process..
Some countries are more strict, some simply require something written on a form stating what it is.. it's different everywhere. That's for shipping from the US...
As for safety control practices of other countries, I can't comment, simply because I'm not there. But I do know, like I stated, some are more strict with things going in and out, others a little less...
As for the possibility of x-ray machines.. no clue... but, it wouldn't surprise me if the more strict countries did this.. it's done to get on an airplane, so it would be done for items shipped, for safety protocol..
I know this probably isn't too helpful, it's just what I know

there is a place in San Francisco where two streets come together … the streets are Moscow and Russia … Send it from there and maybe it will go through
