USPS International Restricted Materials... A bass bridge.

My carrier dropped this off today...

Apparently, the bridge I sent falls under the restricted materials category. To be specific, the Other category. The route carrier had no idea what it meant. If anyone in TB land has any insight as to why a bass bridge would be rejected, I'm all ears. Thanks.

I'm guessing you are probably right.

I have a certain amount of respect for mail carriers and what they have to endure. That said, I've had too many issues with the system recently. To wit:

First-class mail stuck in an endless loop for delivery well off the path between the mailing origin and destination
Requesting an investigation into a lost parcel, and receiving no response beyond a confirmation of making the initial report
Several cases of using the official stop-mail form and not having mail restored on the requested date.
Not getting bills delivered
No one answering the phone at the local post office

I know of no easy way to identify someone who can help you other than to call the central number and see what happens. The number is (1-800-275-8777).

In the future, you might consider using a private carrier such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL.

It's rare that I ship internationally and this type of situation is exactly why. The carriers mentioned are certainly a viable option, but a bit expensive. I will be going to my local post office to see if they can provide me with an answer, but I suspect I will be calling that 800 number.

I'm a carrier myself.. in all honesty, I'm clueless too. I've never seen anything like that. Whatever is written in the "other" space doesn't even look like a word... but with international shipping, you never know what it if anything odd will happen...
That's with any delivery service, not just USPS..
@Spacecase ... I hate to hear you've had so many issues..
I don't know where you're at, but there are numerous offices that are very poorly managed...
As for things not getting delivered, or not being resumed on date specified by you, it could be one of a hundred reasons as to how or why it happened.

edit:Maybe you can give the postal authorities permission to open and inspect it if necessary.
Or even show it to the clerk youself.Then seal it up in front of them.

Not that I'm aware of. Destination was the Russian Federation, but it never made it beyond San Francisco.

It's "opaque". Which would lead me to assume they rejected it because it won't X-ray. As one might expect from a bass bridge.

My guess is the exray made it look like a lithium battery and nobody bothered to double check. For what it's worth I have more issues with my UPS driver than with USPS. UPS just puts packages in the middle of my carport where I cannot see them. Ran over two packages already.
