Vapid Super Bowl Performance

I felt the vocals were a little low in the mix. But I couldn’t tell if they fixed it at all. I was mesmerized by the large structure behind him with people sitting in it....all I could picture the whole time was this....

Can't we have a serious conversation without name calling or gaslighting me because you disagree? Maybe you just don't really have a point to make.

LOL. Who's "gaslighting" anybody? Several people in this thread, including here have cited that The Weeknd is measurably successful, but you're disagreeing because you feel like you're right based on a documentary you saw. That's fine, you can feel whatever you want. But making statements indicating that success has "little to do with talent anymore" is massively ignorant.

If it makes you feel better, I'm sorry you feel this way.

1/2 time really was like huh? Why is this guy performing and it was very blah.
Game was great for me...(GO Bucs, lol)
And BTW what kind of crap was the singing before the game about? (Hey does anyone know the lyrics anymore)

Well. Part of my gaslighting characterization was more pointed at the Get of My Lawn crowd than you.

Anyone that actually read this thread or my original post should know that I never said he has no talent. The documentary I quoted was to show that modern fame is easily manipulated. More so and more quickly than anytime ever.

I never said he was not talented or popular, just that I do not like his music and thought his performance was yet another anemic, vapid performance.

I thought the Weekend did a great job. He sounded good, wasn’t lip singing, and didn’t rely on silly cameos, or dancing. He did a great job... and I’m not even a fan per se.
BTW it’s criminal that Metallica hasn’t been asked to do the halftime show yet.

Interesting. I listened on a nice setup and it sounded really good.

That actually was Springsteen? We convinced ourselves it was a lookalike. Why would they have Springsteen, someone identified with New Jersey, act like a midwest farmer? That's why we thought it wasn't actually Springsteen.

He's been a poser since I was forced to be made aware of him in the early-mid 70's. Just playing to type.

I live in Tampa and had no interest in either the game or its outcome. Pro sports may kma.

Maybe because I don't care about the lyrics I didn't even notice that.

Oh. I have never not associated him with New Jersey.

...a bunch of people who complain about not being able to make money playing music are complaining about someone who has made a lot of money playing music.

Yeah, in reality and in song he does speak about being from Jersey and truly is a guy... but many of his songs are about blue collar middle America struggles, being a union laborer, country-esque themes that never really applied to his real life etc. I’m a big fan of his music but also aware that whole image is a fabrication.

He also freely admits this if you watch the solo acoustic shows he did a couple years back. They are on Netflix and he has a little fun talking about how he doesn’t know the first thing about working in a factory or on a farm, etc.

So Anyway, we usually eat dinner during halftime. I figure most of the entertainers aren't booked with my demographic in mind.
I remember the year after the Wardrobe Malfunction, they booked The Rolling Stones to do the halftime show. They wanted a band that would deliver a good clean show....and they picked The Rolling Stones. Guess we're not as dangerous as we once were.
And can't the NFL give Tom Brady some kind of GOAT Forever-And-Ever Achievement Award or something...and make him retire?

I watch zero to 1 football games each year. This year, the Mahomes/Brady matchup looked interesting. I was out of there by the end of the third quarter - horrible to watch KC self-destruct. The Weekend? Entirely meh. Not without talent ,but the material did not at all catch my interest, and the parade of red-jacketed guys in white masks was just plain baffling, in an anodyne way, which was - parodoxically - quite offensive! When it comes to SuperBowl performances, too bad they all can't be Prince!
