Varitone question

Yes. You can buy them separately, from Stellartone, HAS-sound, and a few other makers, and Rawsound will even make you a pre-wired harness to drop in. I have two of the Rawsound ones, and I've heard the other two I mentioned are good but I haven't tried them.

Kinda what I figured. About all I can really see in live circumstances is two cap values (there'd be a third but you really don't hear it as that different in a louder band). On guitar it gets cooler because you can get some neat midrange resonance things too, just by combining with coils, for driving distortion. But that can gut a bass role pretty quickly.
