And yes, the name is Ben Verellen's (Dave's younger brother). He does the circuit layouts, wiring, etc..I do circuitry also, and there's a third partner who does the woodworking.

I've been exchanging emails with Ben for a few days about a custom 8x10. VERY cool guy, and one of the quickest to respond to an email I've ever encountered. I hope to have a cab on order within a month or two.

Funds fell through on my 8x10, but I ended up picking a slightly worn Ampeg for a song. I do still plan on getting a Meat Smoke one of these days, though.

I can appreciate the drive and commitment the newcomer to the industry must have trying to get products off the ground. The aesthetics of the amps aren't my thing, but there's always a chance that in twenty years or so this original line will be the next high-dollar piece of music history that most of us will only know through pics and discussions on forums like TB. I wish the best for Verellen.

the tone was pretty cool when it was cranked, but it didnt seem like it got deathly loud. my VR gets waaaaay louder than that, id never dare crank it to the max like they did with that verellen.

they do however look great, i like the "nuts and bolts" look.

This going the way of that speaker cabinet guy who was selling using religion to sell cabs back a few years ago? Can't remember the name.

I think there's a bunch of guys in stoner rock bands who would disagree with you.

Personally, I really like the look. But then I'm into steampunk stuff, too. I like things that look old (not intentionally "reliced" basses though).

judging by that clip, it seems to run out of headroom almost immediately, even quicker than my Traynor YBA200-II.

How can you guess the real volume by just listening to this recording?
Do you see the camera shaking at medium volume setting?

Overall Volume is much more sensitive to the used cabinet than the amp.
for example: Your SVT used with a single ampeg 15" cab will run out of headroom soon and maybe wont be enough for a louder rock band practice.

It's a poor recording but it at least gives you idea what it can do. I won't rip on an amp without hearing a proper recording (which that is not) or trying it out myself.

i wasn't referring to how loud it is (its impossible to tell on that recording). i was looking at where the input and master controls are, and the amp appears to distort very early-on / doesn't appear to have alot of room in its gain structure to play clean.
