to me, that amp is 1 for 3, as it doesn't come off as having loud or huge tone. but "insanely", maybe.

As they say, the Boss FZ-2 is EW in a box. I know the guitard is using that but I'm not sure about the bassist.

If the cab can take it, it won't hurt the head to dime it. Might make the tubes a little hot and make them burn out a little faster, but it won't blow it up or anything.

I think they're great. They look cool. Last time I saw Torche the bass player had one, it sounded awesome.

i wasn't referring to how loud it is (its impossible to tell on that recording). i was looking at where the input and master controls are, and the amp appears to distort very early-on / doesn't appear to have alot of room in its gain structure to play clean.

I think it is ALSO impossible to tell the gain structure of that amp by just watching that video.

John - watch it again. He picks smoothly with his fingers until gain and master set at noon. Then tweaks to something about 2 oclock (!!!) for both - still smoothly playing with his fingers - It is still fairly CLEAN then.
Then increases both at about 3 oclock AND hitting strings obviously very hard with that yellow pick he is holding in his right hand - full shred.

I had a DR405 that would behave the same - having tons of clean haedroom. My SVT gets nasty much sooner.

To be blunt: i dont like the sounds on the videos i watched on the website...But i almost certain the video doesnt do any justice to the amp itself. Since internet is one of the biggest GAS-increasing-mediums, i think you should really think those demo videos through and try to present the amps at their best. (offc you'll never gonna get the live effect of the amp in a video but you know..).
That and the fact that i'm not really thrilled by the looks of it (they're certainly not ugly and the looks shouldnt hold me from buying one..but its not appealing to me personally) makes me move on and check out other brands first.. as a starting company thats not a good thing i guess.

So i'm certainly not making any conclusions about those amps but i'm not curieus about them at first sight.. If i look at all other replies they make a good impression to whole lot of tb'ers here ... that says alot too offcourse...my judgement may be in error..

By all means, good luck with the productline. you never know i come accross one, one day and start getting GAS fevers

Ya, really. I couldn't even hear it in most of the clip. Geez, mic it with a real mic and run it into a real recording device, then take the sound and edit it into the video. How hard can that be? I see dudes in the effects forum do it all the time.

Tone is so subjective. Couple that with all of the variables from instrument, cabinet, environment, musician, etc...

I generally question the value of internet tone clips. Half of the time, clips of gear I use every day sound nothing like what I reference! In some cases, you might be able to get a rough idea of a piece of gears' range or response- but it's all pretty hard to document. Especially 'loudness'! For instance, the clip in this thread gives you an idea of the distortion potential of the amp- but not a whole lot else. Who knows how loud it can get?

if this is indeed what Torche always uses live, then its a winner. I saw them several months back with Boris and the bass tone was simply incredible... he played a metal-necked Kramer, and from my vantage point i couldn't see the head, but the cabs looked like a couple Emperor 8x10's stacked on their sides (alternately may have been 2x15s or something). couldn't tell exactly what it all was since it was dark, but it felt like the soul-grinding finger of god reaching down to tickle my spine... really sounded great, and huge. i hope it was this amp, ha!

I remember thinking it sounded a bit like the fully driven Orange tones you hear from High on Fire and Sleep and similar bands (electric wizard, orange goblin, warhorse, etc)

This is my sentiment 100%. I'm sure they sound great (they certainly do in the videos) but they look like garbage.

Seems like the amp discussion has overtaken this thread but my 4x12 should be here within two weeks and I'm getting a picture of it sent to me within a day so I'll post that up when I get it.

When I post it please keep your negative comments about the look to yourself. I dig it and that's all that matters.

It was a custom order, I had it made a little deeper (16") than their guitar cabs. The speaker layout is like the Aguilar gs412. I'll PM the price.
