Expand? The only bands that use superfuzz variants I'm aware of in the sphere they're targeting are Thrones and Electric Wizard. I'm curious to hear more of your thoughts on superfuzz in these genres, especially since you lurk the stonerorck forums as well.

You'd probably agree with me that the other big fuzz pedal for the genre is the Big Muff Pi. I'm guessing they tried to Muff-ify the Superfuzz circuit, trying to get the best of both to make one doomy fuzz pedal (or perhaps did it the other way around).

As far what other bands in the genre are using, I don't pay attention to their gear much since I'm not trying to cop any of their sounds.

Truth be told I never worried about what the Big Spider was based on, but the other day I got to plug into an old Superfuzz made by one of the dozens of generic Japanese companies making them around the time Univox was that included a footswitch for the tone option rather than a normal switch and I remembered the Big Spider.

Germanium fuzz + two knobs (intensity/gain and volume) + two tone options (only slightly scooped and super Muffy scooped) = Superfuzz and Big Spider.

I believe Ben when he says it's different, but I'm not sure how different I think he means. I would bet the changes are mostly for low end.

Mine arrived monday as predicted. Its beautiful.
I played with it (guitar) all that evening.

Band practice is tonight.
I should be able to do some bass clips after that.

BTW: IT F#CKING RULES. PERIOD
Best fuzz purchase I have ever made next to the B:ASSMASTER and the ZOOM ULTRA FUZZ.

I don't like using tone adjectives on the internet but.. damn.

Yeah, I hear that too....
But there IS subbass/lower content going on as well.
Almost like a blended octave drop effect. Does yours do that?
I am playing it through a 50w tube sovtek and a single JBL 15" fwiw. So my amp/cab is not one to accentuate 'false' lows.

Also, the knobs don't seem to do much. :confused:
I just dime them both and am happy.

I imagine through your rig this pedal would sound pretty kickass like in the original clips. However, through my Markbass CMD121P it just doesn't do it for me, so I've returned it and am sticking with my Bass Big Muff / Supercollider for now.

I think there's so much shrill treble and octave up fuzz added by this pedal that it seems like low end loss - it sounds much better going into a VT Bass which compresses things a bit and tames the highs, but it's no substitute for a real tube amp, which I think I'm gonna have to get! If/when I do, I may have to revisit this pedal.
