VFE Woodchipper

Yours flew through customs, though, right? Assuming he gets them both tomorrow and then mods and ships them together, customs on the way back might give me the upper hand.

Yeah, well, I declared it as Made In USA/warranty repair, which it was. So, it would have gone through customs in a flash. Coming back, yeah, it will be trickier. My guess is that I will get mine back like a week after you, at best.

Mine is also in Washington, expected delivery tomorrow. I'm kind of amazed because I didn't look at the tracking until today. I gave it to the post office in the grocery store on Friday night and they said it would be picked up on Monday. I was surprised and disappointed (why not Saturday?) then but now I'm "happy surprised."

here we'd say (sh***y translation) "happily disappointed" :)

I touched base with Peter and immediately got my invoice. He had messed up my e-mail address, glad I checked!

Have tracking info and package is en route ...

I have to say VFE should get props for great customer care when offering these mods for free. They will be on my list when looking for pedals in the future. Their licensed build of the Ginger pedal is a candidate, I've been thinking of DIY but maybe I should let VFE do it.

Yeah, my experience (with a free pedal I won in a giveaway) has been great. I would love to give him more of my business. Unfortunately, since my tastes tend toward the digital and programmable and I'm kind of set on dirt, there isn't another pedal in his arsenal right now that really does it for me.

Even though it ultimately won't matter for me, I am curious about the same question @Lebowsky had, whether the new pedals include the mods as a default or not.

Yeah, that is a good question. But, Peter is so great at communication. I would just ask him when purchasing.

I didn't want to bug him with a question that is moot for me, but if anyone finds out, they should let us know...

Okay, I got mine back and had a chance to play with it for just a bit.

Fuzz volume mod: huge difference here. I was surprised how quiet the fuzz was pre-mod. No trouble anymore! It's still controllable, unity volume is maybe 9:00 now, instead of past noon like it was before for me. Maybe it's just me hearing what I want to hear, but I do feel like mixing in clean and bottom now sounds better with the increased fuzz volume.

Reduced compression mod: I'm going to need a little more time with this one. I definitely noticed the difference, but it's not quite as dramatic as the volume mod. At max gain, you still get into overcompressed madness, but it's more usable than the previous max gain. The overall range of the knob seems to be a little more usable. But again, I would like to spend some more time with this.

Overall I'm happy on both counts and I would recommend both mods.
