Anyone use one of these in their chain? If so, any thoughts on how it changes (if at all) the sound of effects, esp overdrive and compression?

It's not necessary if you've already got an active bass. It changes the signal from hi impedance to low, which will absolutely destroy the tone of certain fuzzes, distortions, and filters. It's a good box, well built, but not terribly usefull unless you've got a passive bass and you use it AFTER any effects that need to see a hi impedance signal.

They don't seem to have a very good rep for being reliable. Supposedly lots of problems with the transformer?
