I hate people who ask for videos of an individual who critiques another. I don't see those self-same people showing me their NFL quarterback videos, or their American Idol audition tapes... But you know they're making their own commentaries.
It's in bad taste, IMO, to suggest that you shouldn't critique something you don't like, simply because you can't do better.
You don't have to be better than someone to recognize flaws, and "sloppy" is sort of subjective, anyway. I could post a video of me playing slap that would make Vic look like a laser-guided bomb (as far as precision goes).
His music stays with me. Especially "Show of Hands" and "What Did He Say?" The rest of the albums don't interest me nearly as much, but Norwegian Wood, Sometimes I Laugh, Sojourn or Arjuna, those songs haunt me. He can keep "Classical Thump" and show me the melodic stuff, and I'd die happy.
I bought "The Lesson" and pre-ordered it just so I could have his autograph. The man has opened up doors to my playing and thoughts on music that I couldn't thank him enough.
Sloppy or not, "memorable" or not, he's one of the best musicians I've ever heard.
