Vintage Ampeg B-10? Combo/Stack tube amp?

Isn't it true that the Barber Linden EQ pedal does a really good job replicating the old tone from the Ampeg B15 fliptop? I mean, you could always go a different route with an amp and buy the pedal and get a pretty sweet tone. I'm planning on purchasing one when I sell off my submarine designer and mxr m80.

The linden is a cool EQ based on the sb-12's baxandall controls (treble/bass and nothing else), but it's got no real tonal characteristics of ampegs. great eq, though. never failed to get whatever i need with those controls on my b-15.

The dude has been trying to sell me a (cheaper) SWR since I first checked out the Ampeg. And today he was trying to sell me a $350 fender amp. I doubt he would be trying to scam me.

Well see on monday.

I think that I know which store has this amp, and IIRC it belongs to the store owner. I was curious as to why it hadn't sold by now, but the info in this thread answers that question.

If you're not familiar with tube amps, expecially vintage ones, I suggest proceeding with caution. The folks at that store probably know more about what's wrong with the amp than they're letting on.

Danny D's? I'm actually from that area, its a good 15 min bike ride from my house.

Well Imma see what they'll sell it for as is, and then think about buying it. To make it a reliable amp, it would be worth the drive bro.

I currently have sitting in my basement a small tube amp with a dead power transformer taken out by a failing rectifier tube (6X4). This is a much more common problem with indirectly heated rectifiers than with directly heated rectifiers.

Pretty unlikly for it to happen in a B15.

I wasn't dealing with Danny though, it was Chris. I'm going in today and talk to this guy (maybe if I can't get anywhere I'll ask for Danny) about buying the amp as is. I'm thinking there is really something wrong with the amp or like you said Dan doesn't want to sell it anymore, cause he didn't really want to sell me the amp when I mentioned gigging but I can't believe someone would rather get less money (he keeps trying to sell me cheaper amps). We'll see.

Again I'm bumping a very old thread....without first checking to see the last time the OP posted :banghead:. EDIT--oh good, Tommygun is still active.

Tommygun, I could tell you some unpleasant stories, but it wouldn't be appropriate in the open forum.

Did you ever work out a deal, or did Danny (I'm 99% sure the Ampeg belongs/belonged to him) keep it?
