Lucky me, I just today nabbed an all-original, albeit severely gigged 1962 P. Pics attached, but my question is whether anyone can ID the strings that are strung on it? I have read that factory shipped Fender strings featured a red silk, which this bass has. Also they have an exposed core at the bridge/ball end, which seems odd for 60's, but only maybe because the first time I ran into them was with an F bass a few years ago. Does that feature say anything about their provenance? The foam is still present underneath the bridge cover, though it's pretty dry. As you can see from the pics, there's now foam left on the strings from that mute. Really makes me think they were never changed. I know after speaking with the owner that he never removed the covers, although I didn't ask about whether the strings were changed. Harness, pots, cloth wiring - all original, never touched. Thanks for any helps y'all can provide.

Beautiful bass. Congrats! Fender factory bass strings had blue silks (the shade changed in the early 60s but still blueish).
Those are wild strings on it. First I've seen them and looks like TwototheValley nailed the ID.

Maybe you can't remember when bars normally had enough smoke in them that it might be hard to see. 
Thanks for this - I plan on chatting with the previous owner again in the future with some questions. Hopefully we'll confirm it 100%.
