Volume & Tone Pots for Jazz Bass

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help. Have a beautiful Mexican 60's re-issue jazz bass which I love. My only dissapointment is the volume and tone pots. What would be the best pots to use to replace these and would this affect the tone in any way (which I don't want to do). Just want a more definite and gradual change in the volume/tone than I am getting.
Cheers.

The key for jazz bass is to use linear taper pots for the volume controls and audio taper for the tone control.

What about P-bass? Same thing?

I just got an Ibanez Roadster short scale with a single P pup, and the tone pot was just a hole to the back cavity. The volume seems to work ok, but as long as I'm adding a pot for tone, I might as well replace the volume, too. I'm guessing a 250k should be fine. What would be a good cap to use for the tone?
