Definitely does two 610s - and with more bass extension, better dispersion and equal power response, and no EQ penalties. With a lot of peoples' tonal profiles and enough wattage, it'll not be shamed in the presence of two 810.

Substitute cheap plentiful lightweight watts for bulk, shake, stir. Hoffman's Iron Law is not repealed, but leveraged.

Some people don't want to sound like a really loud JBL K140 with scads more LF capability I guess. Go figure ; }

Anyway, Vlad does real nice, quick work, and actually talked me into working on a larger non-modular design than I had ever actually intended. And from what he's telling me it's giving him exactly what he wanted : }

yeah, but i suppose that there are others that don't want a snappy-bright high end or their cab to sound like a big PA/SR cab, i.e., they may want it to sound like an Ampeg 8x10, or a big JBL cab.

sure. here's a pic of it. it was a tight fit, but i got it all in there. i made a ring that sealed off the Alpha 6A's basket, and then used high density foam to block any pressure hitting the voicecoil's vent. i'm going to rebuild/remount the x-over once i get the knob/faceplate for the L-pad and mount the mid volume control on the back of the cabinet:

Nice looking stuff. The chrome "TV stand" looking carts are pretty cool.

My concern with your stuffing 2 drivers in the small box was choking off all the lowend they're capable of. Initially it seemed sort of a waste of a good LF driver but all that said...

You seemed to have closely matched the lowend rolloff to the larger cab and got pretty close in the high end as well so if the goal was to make the small box sound like the big one, mission accomplished.

If that's open cell foam it won't stop pressure from getting in there, no matter how high the density. With the limited excursion of the A6 running as a mid I'd put a metal can over the vent, glued to the magnet, even a couple of cubic inches will be adequate breathing room for it.

Yeah, I love the comments... BTW the correct Bobbism for this page of the thread is, "I'd do it all different."

My tight circle of friends / critics abuses me with that line whenever somebody else from our radio club does something notable. Apparently I've said it a few times in my life... In an email it will just come out like this... IDIAD A preemptive strike would be written WAOY IDIAD... As in Way Ahead of you...

Instead of clanging ego's telling somebody to do this and do that, which he doesn't want to hear anyway... Just cut to the chase right from the first line with the correct Bobism.

I'd do it all different.... five little words = a good twenty posts. :eek: BOB

Cool stealth amp set-up. I'm sure if I walked into a club and heard your gear, I'd scratch my head and think some of those old Voxes are really something! A while back I owned a Vox Berkeley and matching open-back 212 with trolley, was the only solid-state guitar amp I ever liked. It probably had 15-watt Celestion Blues, those wouldn't last long in a bass amp!

yeah, i've had that happen at a couple of gigs with the beatle cab. and now its really going to surprise people even more with the little 'buckingham sized' cab.

Hi Bob,
not a bad idea, but i don't know if i'll really need to, since i've cranked it up louder than i'll probably ever need to use it on a gig, and it doesn't seem to be having a problem with handling the GK head.

Thanks Will,
the smaller 3012LF cab actually has more low end (in the 60hz and below range) than the 2x15 does, so i don't use the 5 string mode on the head with it, whereas i used to use it in the 5 string mode with the JerBiLs.
