That's a good idea... I myself don't have any passive basses, unless you count the fretless with a passive/active switch (I always go active anyway).

VT pedal overpowering the head?

I've been matching the output of my bass and vt when i use it. I run the vt into the input of my head, and have my digitech whammy and line 6 verbzilla in the effects loop. It sounded pretty awesome yesterday practicing on my own, but I always have to fiddle with it at practice to get enough presence in the mix =/. What sounds good at home does not always work best in a live mix..
Like i said in my first post, i try to keep the input and output for the mpulse600 around 1 o'clock and no more. I think I killed my last solid state head by putting the output "up to 11" -_-

Haha, no it was a Euphonic Audio iamp 600. It may be because I got it at the Guitar Showcase consignment side..but I was still a poor college student and needed lots of power for not too much money. I really don't know what the cause of death was for that one. All I know is that it's dead now. I'm still a relatively new bassist and new to the head + cab world so.. I'm bound to make some mistakes along the way..

Ooh! I can tell you exactly what happened, no joke! Euphonic (unknowingly) bought a batch of counterfeit capacitors, and these fake caps had only a small percentage of the power-handling ability of the "real" ones. What this means is when the amps that had been made with these caps were driven to full power, they died. Some even exploded! Mine did, and damn near killed me.
