Once upon a time I could play this. (Then I had to take a big break from play. Needless to say, my ear suffered) I think the key is C, no mater how I try to follow the bass line it ‘clashes’ as if I’m playing the wrong notes. The sort of subsonic tone doesn’t help my pick the notes out either. I don’t usually write out tabs, just the notes or chords.

In isolation this sounds right for the opening part: C...D...E...A...GAGE...

But it does not work in the mix! I’m lost! Confused! Likely tired!

That's the right part all right!

Try singing it along with the music, then singing the bass line as you play it without the music. Listen for discrepancies. Lastly, play along with the music with the bass volume turned OFF. Use your imagination and pretend your bass notes are coming through the computer/mp3 player/whatever you're using to hear the song. That's a good way to sniff out issues with what you're playing.

Hey the I figured it out. They play in 420 hertz tuning insted of 440 lol, so tune your instrument to 420 and you are good to go

Thanks. Yeah since that post I’ve found a number of bands or recordings with this going on, making me feel crazy!
