I made an offer and actually pulled the trigger on this thing! If it has problems I'll send it back.
While looking into this I came across this version from Haze. Different headstock and an adjustable brass nut.

Ok,got the thing. I think the color is nice. It's not heavy. The fret ends are horrible! The finger board and headstock are laquered but the backside has a satin finish.

In my research I found where they come with an Artec preamp but the unit inside is labeled "Ming's."
It's not that powerful. The P pickup solo'd is ok. Adding the J pickup gives it a funky scooped tone. With a fret dressing it will be worth a preamp upgrade.
