Are the trim pot adjustments on an older Wal limited to just master volume and pick attack? My 1982 Mk1 seemingly only has the two, lacking the EQ adjustment pots, they're also brown rather than the blue ones I've seen on newer models. I wish I'd taken a look inside a lot sooner, my master volume pot was set to almost entirely off.

Right. The preamps before early 86 had only two trims: one for volume, one for pick attack. And I've seen them use different vendors, brown, green, blue, and I think I've noticed white ones too.
The goofy thing is sometimes they're wired in backwards. I've got some Wals that require being turned clockwise to turn up, and a couple others that need to be turned counterclockwise.

Yeah man, mine are definitely wired backwards, when I first looked at it I turned it full clockwise then plugged in and got nothing. I thought I did something wrong somehow so I went back and turned it full counter clockwise and it worked, really weird. Thanks!

Thanks, and yes it is a beauty! I dealt with Paul H. at Wal, so I'm assuming he made this bass. Don't know anything about the "hornbeam" though...??? The bass was built new in 2012.

gentlemen. dumb question but what size is the ring nut that tightens the 1/4" out put jack? I figure I'll go buy the appropriate nut driver today.

oh yeah. dusted off a pair of .90-.30 d'addario strings and put them on last night. this is a fun little diversion from the norm! I can't put this thing down right now!

hmm. ok. I was thinking I'd need something like this since its recessed down in that little cavity.
