Lovely MkII! Ebony fretboards are phantastic. I like them on anything. To my ears they sounds snappier than rosewood but without the maple "clank". At least IMHO.

Damn, I once owned that bass.... Steve's Lefty Zebrano MKIII with maple neck. That was one badass bass. I sold it but one of the "oh crap" basses I wish I kept.

I was getting worried....thought I was going to have to jump in there.
HOLY BEJESUS, want to talk about "worth the wait". I was very lucky to have the best buying a Wal experience that a guy can have.
-Seller in UK knows Paul and drove there just to use one of the extra padded boxes that Paul uses to ship new Wals
-Seller drove the bass to Air Canada terminal (Heathrow) and checked her as Air Cargo on a passenger flight
-I got to track the flight while it was flying
-No damage to box
-I was so honest while talking to Customs Agent that he only charged me tax on $500! (saved me about $525.00 in duty/taxes alone)
-I now have the best sounding Wal i have EVER played.
-There isnt one mark/scuff/dent on her anywhere

Was it originally a fretless bass? I don't think I've seen a fretted version with no fret markers. Either way, woah! And man did you luck out on finding a great seller, and not having to pay duty is such a relief.
Orig fretted. I have seen a few. They are usually done at customers request. (I bought this one off orig owner)
There is about SIX things orig to this Wal that you dont see very often
-Veneered Headstock
-Orig owners name and build date in black Wal font lettering on back of headstock
-Only top fret markers
-Dark veneer between facings and core
-Fixed solid pole pieces (orig)
-Matching control cavity cover.
I wasn't going to post it as I haven't seen it in person yet, and TMB's kind of blows it out of the water but you guys deserve a little more bass pr0n today.

I truly envy that your "cherry" will be broken with a brand new Wal. I was like a fat kid in the candy store today, can't imagine opening the case on a brand new one

Very interesting, didn't know such a thing was available. Do you know why they were ordered like that? I like the adjustable poles, personally.
I like the adjustability too. I have really only ever had to touch one or two if i thought a particular string was too low (audibly) or too loud. But after that i didnt touch them.
Pete installed these on this bass for a reason unknown and orig owner didnt know that Wal pole pieces were adjustable until not too long ago.
I may leave it like the way it is. we'll see after i go through a couple sets of strings.

Well finally got this deal done...money sent off today!. Will take some better pics when she arrives! She is a rare beauty.
