All THREE pairs of tongs have wasabi on them, clearly bad form.

Notice the haphazard and askew beer bottle, in the front row no less!

My preferences for alcohol are all in the BACK ROW!

And my seat on the plane - not in the first row. I'm all the way back in the second row. How humiliating!

(Did I mention there was one guy ahead of me in the TSA Pre line at security!)

Ok, rather than spamming with a lot of pics all at once, let's take our time and let the story unfold. This was my trip to Wal Mecca, and I want you to share in every step of the journey.

This trip started at the airport. I hate long lines. Yes, I got stuck behind one guy and had to walk six feet to the right to check in with a different attendant. Look at the chaos!

Paul said wait an hour. I can do that. I ain't waiting a day.

ps ups wouldn't leave it without me paying customs COD with a cashiers check so I have to pick it up tonight. Woulda been nice to know. Customs is effing 525 dollars. according to the govt website, customs shoulda been like 5%. this thing wasn't $10000. :(

There are all sorts of factors that will affect what you pay, if it's made in a country outside of NAFTA, if the wood is not from the US, etc. Plus you're paying sales tax as well as duty.

gah!!!! oh well.

Lol yeah it's ugly. Before the price increase of Wals, I was seriously on the fence about placing an order, but the fact that I'd be liable for another undisclosed amount on top of the already high price kinda stopped me in my tracks. I'd phoned Canada Customs at one point and they'd told me it would be somewhere around $800, that's nutty.

Of course I would never do anything so dishonest. But I suppose one could board a plane for England with a crappy pawn shop bass in a case, throw said bass in the trash whilst in England and return home with your new WAL almost duty free. (cause you had to buy the 50 dollar bass).

"oh this fancy new case? yes I picked it up in England, I'll be happy to pay the duty on this. what do I owe you? "

Resuming the story...

With the hellish conditions of the airport behind me, we finally take flight. San Francisco looks nice on this sunny day heading out from California.

A welcome relief as they distribute hot towels, I'm pretty sure to the whole airplane. Or maybe it's just my cabin. Either way, here's a gratuitous selfie of that wonderful, sinus clearing moment.
