Wal Bass Club.

The craigslist pic just looks like the bridge reflecting in the finish next to the pickup--I don't think anything has been added there.

I wonder what has been added in between the pup and the bridge. Here is a pic from the Wal database

For Sale - FS-WAL MKII 5 stgs BLACK POLY | TalkBass.com

That reminds me of this TB classifieds listing. I tried in vain to get more info from the seller. He did respond to my initial inquiries, but he went silent when I asked for a picture of the inside of the control plate and electronics.

at least he has some feedback here on TB so its a good chance its not all BS....CL guy has many aliases and has same MO.....oh well!

i'll be honest - i too tried in vain with that TB listing and had same result Zulu :bag:

Nice bass and probably worth that price. The single PU would be great for more of a P bass vibe but I far prefer the sound of both pickups on with the Pro's. Neck pickup solo'd is good but both on is pure Wal.

I just got my ProIIe refurbished but I still think the board is close to end of life. I'd be curious to know if a new preamp could be fitted to the existing hole placement in Pro. Anyone have thoughts there?

First and foremost - would Paul even sell it to you??? let's just say he did or you found one - it's hard to tell whether or not the hole placement would work, but even if it did, the other thing you'd have to worry about would be if the 1/4 jack would get in the way.

what's wrong with the board you have now?

Hello Fellas ! I'm back ! LOL ! So many new babies ! Caca and Jose, you will be beat me soon ! I know that you are buying all Wals in the planet.

A question :

What do you think about the Red Pro for sale on Bass Direct ? Maybe too expensive I think.

What's the tone like on these? How would you describe it? Are there any good sound examples? I'm considering getting one.

Volume occasionally fades out. Paul could probably repair which would be my first choice but I hear some components are no longer available.

Assuming Paul would install a new preamp in a Wal bass if the existing one was failing but I haven't asked.

Jack would be an issue since I only have the 1/4 socket. The critical thing is reliability if I'm gigging it.

I'm guessing that Paul would want you to send the whole body back, I would think (hope) he could just repair the existing preamp, if you needed a new preamp I'd assume he'd have to do some alterations.

I am still waiting on my fretless, I sent it to Paul around the end of January, he received it early February, going to get my preamp repaired, and probably going to get a new body. It will probably be a year before I get it back, still waiting on being scheduled.

Paul might sell it as a replacement, he would probably want to keep the original preamp, and have to replace the pickguard

I guess I'm "bass-ing" this on a really early exchange with him regarding my old 80's Shedua Mk I that is no longer in the fold. When I got it, i had issues with it - before I went around looking locally, and asked for a quote to repair, but had also asked if I could buy/exchange the one with the 4 trim pots since it was the older style preamp ....he said there was no real benefit in doing so - but he'd be able to repair the existing one and make it new again....I'd imagine it may be the same with the pro IIe preamp since most/if not all the ICs are readily available. I believe the only components that are not available is the 1/4 jack housing, the PCB, and the pickup selector switch.

plus I'm not entirely sure if the pickups on the Pro's are wound the same as the customs.... anyone know this???

ya i wouldn't trust ANY CRAIGSLIST UK add. I think about a year ago a fellow TB'er got scammed trying to buy a Zon Hyperbass that was being sold on CL UK....over the years too a couple Wal adds posted up were flagged as being sketchy with the typical up scammy replies....

if you MUST tickle your curiosity and get this reply:

"Hello, i'm based in Lerwick,Shetland if this isn't a problem for you i can send you some pictures"

RUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!![/QUOT
Yes this is a total scam I know for a fact because I was emailing back and fourth with this guy a year or so ago. His emails didn't make any sense what so ever and never answered a question I asked him for pictures of him holding the bass with the case and a document with the days date at the time and he replies "the bass is in storage, I keep the bass in storage so I cant take picture" and that was the last time he said anything.... total scam oh and this person only wanted a bank money transfer absolutely no paypal. So beware!

I have heard the pickups are a little different . I'd send the entire bass back. I'd also prefer it remain original and working. Also mine has no pick guard so I'd want to avoid adding one unless that's the only solution.

I'm going to put my MK-III up for trade/sale...
But I'm only trading for a MK-I or II (4 or 5 string) fretted or lined fretless. I figured I'd see if anyone here is interested first.

Contact me if you want the details.

That's a good reason to buy a PRO II not a PRO IIE.Passive does not need so much electronics.
