When I first played my Pro IE upon delivery the volume pot was all screwy and the pick tone switch wasn't doing anything. The tone was really distorted and output was weak.

I was frustrated.

But, after a few days of playing it, the bass has healed itself. I think the pots and switches needed manipulation to clean the contact surfaces.

I still need the jack adaptor to get looked as because of noise any time I move. Kulit17 provided a schematic. So the tech can check it out when he tweaks the input adaptor.

i can't at the moment. i don't own the bass anymore. tried to contact the existing owner about reacquiring it, but alas have not heard back. :unsure:

i emailed Paul and sent him pics asking him about these pots, if i remember correctly.... he told me these were stock. i'll have to search my emails to confirm.

just another tip for you Pro Owners (finally found this pic in my file archive). Make sure to use deoxit or contact cleaner in the switch (near the pickup connectors - and an additional switch in between for the 'e' versions). There is tiny opening. just spray a bit and switch it back and forth to clean up the contacts. if the contacts are dirty it would cause them not to make contact and won't make (i.e still an open circuit).

It's in great cosmetic shape. The electronics have seen better days. A bit of corrosion, dirt, glitch, etc. But I intend for this to be a gigging bass. So I have to get the minor electronics issues worked out.

Spending more time with the Pro. Aside from it being absolutely gorgeous and in great condition for a 34 year old bass, I'm getting into its voice.

It's nothing really like a custom. Not even in the same group as my MKIII. It doesn't have a "modern" voice. The "pick attack" is much more subtle than with the custom. The mid boost turns it into a barky voice where I need to roll off the treble but something that really would cut through on stage. With the low/mid on it's superb thick. With it on, I can turn on the pick attack and it is a great scooped tone.

Nothing like the MK III, but awesome and something I can really use in any rock or r&b gig.
