yup, serial number corresponds to the date, W2508. it is interesting that it does have the single string retainer instead of the two
wow, pretty cool! would've been cooler if they both has the same Walnut figuring to be considered brothers......but seems they just cousins. :***:
Going at $7k (equates to about £4560 if anyone was wondering comparing it to a 22 month wait @ £4250 and getting it new) a pop surely is targeting someone that wants to bypass the wait time!!
As expected, that 4 string Mk3 fretted sold really fast.
And the fretless Mk2 will sit there till the end of time at that price point.......
AND for whatever reason it costs $350 to ship!!?!?!

The only chance of selling it at that price is getting it fretted. Yup fretlesses just don't have that kind of market.
But $350 shipping is asinine! Better to get a plane ticket and go get it.
Crackling is almost always a cracked solder joint, dirty pot, or bad jack/cord. The ICs, transistors, capacitors, resistors, coils, etc. would normally produce different artifacts if going bad. In most cases, the ICs and transistors would either distort or just go bad. A local luthier should be able to help. I hear Mike Lull in the U.S. does great work.

I actually spoke with the dude about the MkIII, he wanted $50 alone just for "packing supplies", he did come down off his asking price, but it was still way up there.

LOL, I was going for the "Flea Wal bass".
From what i remember, there was a video on youtube showing some of Flea's basses and apparently its covered with stickers......

When I first saw Geddy with the black Wal, I thought is was an odd shape - the horns looked stubby & the 2+2 tuner config looked weird... but years later, it's (at least in my mind) a beautiful & iconic bass...
Check out the pricing on that mag... was it discounted for Canucks because Ged was the cover boy?

Ughh.....this was supposed to be my bass. Previous owner and i had already settled on a price, and it turned out that getting $200 more off PJ was a better idea. Bugged that guy from 2007 to sell me that bass.The Maple MKII

My first physical encounter (with a Wal bass that is
) was in the early 90's, the Bass Centre in Hollywood was just a 2.5hr drive away and they always had new Wals there. My buddy was a huge Geddy fanatic, so we went and checked them out. The one I tried was a Geddy all-black poly MkI with chrome hardware. I didn't understand the controls much, and it boggled me why the pan knob operated backwards from everything else. The thing that I couldn't stand at the time was being able to see the core wood on the natural finished basses, especially the forearm contour. It took me over a decade to warm up to that look, I always dug the opaque ones at the store. That black poly MkI was $3200 new, but I was only playing 5 string at the time and a 5er version was $3500 plus tax....may as well have been a million dollars to me at that age!

True ? I did not know this ! I just tried to request a flamed maple MKII from Paul and to avoid the waiting time I preferred to buy this bass. It is a very unique bass and a perfect and fast neck.

My first physical encounter (with a Wal bass that is ) was in the late 90's. I was touring with my band band in Brazil's capital Brasilia (our fist record from Sony) and a guy just came to my encounter in the hotel lobby with a strange blue case … He said :
Hey PJ , you band is now playing in all radios in Brazil so I have something new for you …He just opened the case and I saw a mint Black PROIE, although I was a Geddy's Black MKI fan I confess that that strange shaped bass with just one pickup, big ears did not pass me a good impression lol ! I just said :
I do not need more basses lol !
Some years later I bought my first WAL, the RED MKII and one more … one more … one more,,,, one more lol
