Wal Bass Club.

Hi guys!

I've got a problem - I have searched high and low on the internet for the dimensions of Wal Mk1 bass. Unfortunately, I haven't found them so may someone measure this bass for me? I really need it and I would be grateful for your help.

Here are the details that I need:

Thanks!

I'm sorry to say, but do not be suprised if your request goes unanswered. Owners of these Wals aren't into forgeries. Thats is why you dont find any dimensions and specs listed on the webs.

New JG based blog today (and it's a goodie even if I do say so myself). Featuring some very special basses owned by John Gustafson and some Colin Edwin and Martin Elliott thrown in for free. With HUGE thanks to Martin for his help and inspiration!

A HISTORY OF WAL BASSES: JG Bass Special Pt 2: A tale of two basses

More coming next Wednesday too...

Yeah.. I deff agree with Mike.. You only have 2 options.. If you build it for yourself, your going to be greatly disappointed because you cant buy a pair of EMG's, bolt them onto some wood, and expect the Electric Wood sound.. And if you build it as a knockoff to sell, you'll be even more disappointed with trying to pass a fake onto an actual buyer. Theres a reason you cant find these @ GC.. Why are you even attempting this? If it were easy to replicate a Wal, don't you think there would be more of them around?? Don't be a Pin-Head!

My advise to you is this.. 1) Get a Job.. 2) Save your $$$.. 3) Re-Think your Plan!!

I don't want to make an exact copy and still less sell it

I'm only interested in Wal's shape, that' all. Nothing more. ;)

It's not really a mystery. There are pictures all over the place. You can also search for neck width at the nut and 24th fret, as well as spacing at the bridge and nut.

Once you have that, you can do some simple math to compare body dimensions from a picture and translate them into actual measurements.

Perhaps you should ask the old man from scene 24...
But you must answer a few questions, failure to do this or an incorrect response and you shall be launched into the gorge of eternal peril...

We´ve just recorded some base tracks (rhythm guitars, bass and drums) at studio.
Later we´ll add some xtra guitar tracks, samples, voices, etc.

Guitars were 2 Gibson Les Paul.
I recorded with my Wal MK1 (I love that bass !) and just wanna share how it fits
with 2 heavy sounding guitars in a rock context.

It´s not mixed or edited, just direct sound from the board.
