hi Guys,

here is my "new" rig. late 70' Peavey Mark III. I switched from Ampegs to Peavey for a moment... don't know why, but it fits my band much better. it is fat, but transparent. not muddy and so fast. without hi end high frequencies, but actually i don't need it.
suprisingly good amp and cab. I have another one Peavey 2x15 cab with Black Widow speakers. truly demolishing equipment....

Those same peavey amps are at a rehearsal studio we've been going to, the cabs are fitted with EV speakers and it sounds really good.
*edit* different peavey model head, around same era.

Yeah, tell me about it. Figuring an exhange and duy of that £740 would be about $1050. Now plug that into the inflation calculator and today that would be $2500.

Probably one of the last sunny days for awhile...figured I would get her some sunlight and fresh air. Paul and I couldn’t believe how much this one sings. Ebony stringers in the neck are amazing. The tone from this thick neck is “devastating” through my Mesa Startegy and Begantino NV15s..the sustain of the instrument brings to Mind that scene from Spinal Tap “ahhhhhh, just listen to that sustain”. Couldn’t be happier I made the decision 24 months ago. Big thank you to @kulit17 and @Caca de Kick for the encouragement, you guys have impeccable taste.

Wow wow wow! Absolutely love the depth that gloss gives it. And I really dig the new style Schaller tuners...way classier looking than the Hipshots.

Would love to see a pic of the ol Bronco too!

Well thank you kind Sir. I couldn’t agree more on the Schaller tuners... they feel very sturdy. I am very happy I went with the gloss as I have seen some pretty bad shape wenge Wals over time and didn’t want that wear to happen to a bass of this caliber. In person the gloss does add an incredible amount of depth to the wenge pattern bringing out deep reddish browns and lighter browns... but as far as tone goes it does feel and sound as though it increases sustain, which is why I am adding it to my Birdseye Maple build with a potential color..wink wink. Also, Thanks for the Bronco love. I will try and take some good front and side shots of her in the morning. Certainly never had feelings for a vehicle like I do for that one... I know you can probably relate.

awesome!! my personal "go to" strings for Wal fretless basses. the American Walnut Mk1 I sold you a few years back had them (also my honduras). excellent to hear you got em on your new build!!!

I've to say I prefer the hipshot tuners! The blacks on mine are matte...the same as the one in my Dingwall. Are the Schallers an option now? or did Paul completely stopped using/offering the Hipshots?

Schaller revamped a few things it seems.
On the Mk1 and Mk2 used to have the large heavy M4S tuners since the beginning. Now that they're discontinued they replaced with the M4S Lights.
At the same time Schaller also redesigned their M4 tuner. Since it appears every new Mk3 rolling out is sporting these, clearly Paul has decided to just get tuners from one vendor.
I think the other issue being is Hipshot changed the finishes on their tuners; now the chrome and golds hues dont match any hardware on a Wal. I know he had a hard time matching the nickel tuners to the chrome on my violet Mk3.

Funny thing is, back when I ordered my Mk2 a year ago I asked Paul to use these redesigned M4 on this build.

Yeah, I notice that with a lot of UK ads. They tend to not want to ship basses....but many times are willing to do it.
Price is not cheap.....but when they're in short supply and not popping up much in North America.....well....I see why people venture to other markets or just bit the bullet and buy new. Paul is definitely producing some amazing basses right now. His build quality equals any of the top builders building right now.
